Not really a "fandom" in the traditional sense but for me it's what I call bandwagoners. Something quite a few fandoms have in common is that whenever a new thing is dropped or someone highlights a series or franchise to a wider audience is that at first a lot of people (usually on sites like twitter) will latch on to the point of being unhealthily obsessed and produce tons of content for at most 5-6 months - then when the next FOTM thing comes along they jump ship, leaving the previous thing behind entirely. It happens so fast that there's no chance for a community to grow naturally and results in a lot of things having little to no interesting or new content on a regular basis. Bandwagoners are without a doubt the worst type of following - they don't just shit everything up, they actively kill anything they touch.

World building is the literal least important part of a story. Tolkien is well regarded because The Hobbit and TLotR are, on their own, good novels. The world he built is just a bonus.

That being said, while this also isn’t a concrete fandom: worldbuilding. The current zeitgeist is that worldbuilding on its own makes for a good story, or can at least make up for shortcomings. The problem is, if no one cares about the residents or happenings of a world, then the world in and of itself will also be boring. To take Tolkien himself for example: The Silmarillion. It is nothing but adding to the already interesting background of TLotR, but it reads like the appendices, which explains why Tolkien never published it. No amount of society details or speculative evolution or engineering history can carry a story.

The ultimate fandom that has to be the worst and contains most toxic fanbases ever to exist has to be Western Animation fanbases.
While Capeshit is pushed by corporations, Western Animation is pushed by manchildren with editorial control of the internet. They have assumed control over modern discourses since 2017 and they are just as powerful as the Troons. Western Animation fans don’t stfu about some dumb Nickelodeon/Disney cartoons made 15-20 years ago and they have tried to make us accept the worst cartoons ever made.
If you ever criticize their “holy grails” especially Steven Universe they ban you from everywhere. If you tell them that watching preschool shows like Bluey makes you a pervert degenerate manchild, they will lose their marbles and call you a “immature edgelord”, even though I am just stating a commonly held opinion. Also, when they assumed power around the late 2010s, they never try viewing anything older than 1999. Why? Because those toons made before then didn’t reinforce their fragile ideology.
Also, while 1980s-1990s cartoons are meant for toy selling, modern animation since 2010s was meant for selling political propaganda, hence why the woke leftist push it soo much.
