Any video that involves someone in the employ of the US Federal govt speaking. Those are really tough to get through.
I mean, I've seen several cartel vids, including funkytown, but Im compelled to witness every last frame, whereas listening to muh public servants insult my intelligence takes serious willpower to finish in its entirety.
Honestly, the worst one I've seen is a pretty generic beheading, but the setting (a dark, decrepit looking bare room with just the victim in a chair). I remember a fixed blade about the size of a ka-bar was used. The slow sawing from front to back is pretty brutal, but its the sound combination of arterial spray and his windpipe wheezing that make it uncomfortable.
Why do you people watch these videos? What do you get out of it?
A lot of ppl mentioned accidental exposure to these things, I actively searched them out (back when r/wpd was around), but not because I was craving traumatic images, rather just came across the fact that such a subreddit existed and curiousity won me over. Funky town was one of the first I witnessed. A horrid vid to be sure, but is so outlandish it almost feels like a practical movie effect (his jaw opening and closing as if attempting to scream, yet no sound coming out is what sticks with me)
I can still remember in the late 90s, when rotten.com was the place to test your stomach. I, being a teenage idiot at the time, decided that images of gunshot head trauma would be the perfect accompaniment to my midday pepperoni hotpocket.
That was the last hot pocket I ever consumed. An incidental win, in that sense, those things are awful, wouldn't feed to my dog. I believe it was the .30-.30 one that did me in. Guys head looked way too similar to a half eaten HP.
I definitely don't enjoy gore, but I do appreciate it's ability to put things in perspective. The tendency to get complacent and comfortable can be dangerous. No one ever anticipates a random act of violence, so it's helped me adopt sort of a military mindset. Situational awareness, threat assessment, etc (or as so eloquently quoted in the hood nigga survivalist doctrine: "Don't get caught slippin'")
It def has its downsides tho. I recently saw the christchurch shooting on here (which oddly enough, was a completely accidental exposure for me). It's very little gore to speak off (especially considering the amount of violence portrayed), but what disturbed me the most was the cold efficiency of his attack. Unloads the entire tube of the shotty in seconds, and proceeds to execute the ones who didn't have easy access to an exit (see, "Don't get caught slippin'").
Had me paranoid for days anytime I was in public. I'd find myself on a smoke break at work, anticipating attack angles, formulating tactical retreat based on nearest available cover and exits. It's not good to be that keyed up all the time, like a combat vet with PTSD, but def a good state of mind when I'm somewhere unfamiliar or likely to be a location of any kind of opportunistic violence (mass shooting, armed robbery, etc).
Also, Im now hyperaware and ready to take evasive maneuvers anytime I'm near a truck hauling bricks and other construction materials. You just never fucking know . . .
