What's wrong with Protestants?

Whereas "good catholics" will just pretend the current pope doesn't say the things he says. They will talk about how trad and conservative everything really is and just pretend that the current pope isn't there. The same people who bitch about Karens in protestant churches will look at the ground and change the subject if the current pope's views comes up.
You mean the part where journalists, people objectively pushing an agenda for years now, pretend the Pope can magically change Catholic doctrine despite him even saying that he can't in the first place and he even says he doesn't intend to but wants to push for some political cause or some shit like that is at least halfway reasonable (like how he still explains how sodomy is a sin, how he has no power to change the fact that sodomy is a sin and that he doesn't want to change that fact, but gays shouldn't be executed just for being gay, a fair point really)? Catholicism isn't like Protestantism where the Pope can just magically change centuries of doctrine like any pastor or random person can for their own church. That's the whole point of ecumenical councils and the like: to further establish Catholic doctrine and add to the Deposit of Faith. Literally everything Pope Francis has said, no matter how poorly spoken it may have been, was an off the cuff interview, not a formal ex cathedra doctrinal statement. Even the most debauched and perverse popes of the past like the Borgias didn't even attempt to fuck with God like that because it almost would have assuredly ended in their deaths. The Pope can have his rather shit (or sometimes halfway decent) views on anything he wants. However, there is a formal process for actually establishing dogma, which is how you don't have insane people (like that one pope in the 1300s who unironically suffered what seems like bipolar depression or something). It's even in the Acts of the Apostles, where one of the first things the Apostles do is to anathematize people that who would later become Judizers.

I've had too many real world experiences with mentally unstable Christians being completely honest. Catholics are more like "religious only on paper" in my experience and don't really bother you unless you're well absorbed in the Catholic faith yourself.

Christians however, as in Protestants, will try to convert you. And as I mentioned the mentally unstable ones are really hard to forget.
