It's from a really neat story called Contract. I would recommend it. It's only eight pages long but it's great. The entire comic is excellent but that story in particular is a highlight.

No, not at all. It's more a reference to the original sense of the word. Kind of like how they showed a wide variety of short films the manga tells a wide variety of short stories.
