The Battle for Koeniggraetz took place in 1866 and later defined the cornerstones for the german reich in 1871.
400.000 Soldiers were sent to the battlefield.
The prussians led by Otto von Bismarck had the upper hand upon the austrians and saxonians, who still had the front loader rifles inferior to the prussian troops freshly developed back loader.
Those guns could be loaded and fired three times while the front loader only shot once, even though the rifles of the austrians did have a higher range.
The battle was a struggle for tactially viable positions and turned out to become a back and forth until the austrian general finally surrendered and prepared the ground for the later reichsgruendung.
