Shooting but ammo got too pricey to want to do it as often

Getting more in to airsoft as my friends have kids getting in to their early teens that are interested. It's like a more active style of shooting where you have to put up with teenagers instead of geriatrics. Plus it gets worked in to friends and family camping trips so its pretty wholesome.

Damn between you, the guy making masks and the guy making books we could hold a full on art exhibit. I didn't realize how many people here have unique creative hobbies.

I specialize in male OOAK's tbh!
I've only done one full doll so far which was Trafalgar Law from one piece for a super close friends Christmas present!
I feel the girl ooak market is very over saturated but then again male dolls are hard to obtain which sucks.
I have a whole laundry list to get to, but my current WIP is Steve Harrington from stranger things, then I need to decide what anime boy I want to make next out of Kpop dolls. The girl in the photo is Monatana Duke from AHS 1984 before I forget to mention that. I didn't do a face up on her since she was a yarn reroot test drive more than anything.

Waiting list includes:
Seto Kaiba
Sasuke Uchiha
Tamaki Amajiki
Giyuu Tomioka
Noctis Lucis Caelum
Sai Yamanaka
Char Aznable
Chrom Fe Awakening
Hidan
Zack Fair

It's also because I don't have a lot of girl doll ideas outside of ocs tbh. Tons of variety yes, but I've been a male doll collector with most of my collection being from commission from a woman named Setsunakou. Her yugioh dolls made me go "hey could I do that?" then watching dollightful and hextian when I got older had my wheels turning in recent years. I'm by no means a pro at all since it's a new hobby but it's fun to create and try my hand at making characters I admire from anime n shit. Sorry to get autistic for a moment.

I like filling my couch cushions with farts. Some days I use so much nicotine and eat weird stuff my farts smell like stale cigars.
I also enjoy collecting 7-11 cups and straws. My fav cup is as big as a fat man's head, and I've put stickers all over it.

I'm a pure blood bibliophile, in short. Loved literature since forever, always read the classics. Got into antiquarian books as a collector building my own library, then as a part-time dealer/sourcer of rare texts for others. Eventually realised I was into binding as an art form, and had no shortage of texts in my collection I could work on.

Never tried leather, as that's some real speciality handiwork. I'd need actual training from experts to do it justice, though I do have decent experience using cloth. Had I been born 100 years ago, it's definitely something I'd possibly take up as a profession.

Edit: just realised you asked why old books. Newer books are made to cost more than ever, and even expensive volumes are printed to no greater quality than shitty airport hardbacks. Art books in particular can be beyond all reasonable cost, which is chiefly explained by their limited run, target audience, and likely return on investment.

Specifically, it's oftentimes difficult to get a hold of an antique copy in good condition. Sometimes even finding one that isn't in horrendous state is damn near impossibly, mainly due to age, on top of that exclusivity, rarity, even the size of a book can impact handling, etc. When you do find a book you've been after, there may be a disbound copy floating around for 20% of market value. I'd buy those copies which your average trophy collector wouldn't, fix them up, and turn them into sturdy reading copies. I'd then either keep them in my collection for reading or reference, or sell them on if I knew an interested party/it was especially sought after.

'Sourcer of rare texts' sounds like a job in a fantasy world, I love it. Its amazing you're keeping these books alive, its very honorable in a way. Have you ever thought of trying to copy old books and recirculating them under new prints or scanning some that aren't online for archiving's sake?
It starts with sculpting it out of clay, making a plaster mold, and pouring in liquid latex. I just watched a bunch of tutorials and learned through trial and error.
How do you color them in the end? I'd imagine you need some kind of specialty paint that can stick to latex.
I collect fossils. I found a vertebra from a 200 million-year-old crocodile, and a fossilised Crinoid (Sea-lily) so old that when it was alive the dinosaurs were as far in the future to it as they are in the past to us, which is mind-blowing, especially when you can hold it in your hand. Crinoids are still around, too.
Where do you find them? Are there specific areas known for fossils you go to or is it just luck? Have you ever gotten any of them professionally examined?

The Law one looks pretty cool, I like his tiny sword. I think I'd get a heart attack waking up at night and seeing these dolls on my nightstand though.

The sword came from 1 of my Law figures actually! It ties into my figure collecting hobby and I just borrowed it for the photos since I had it around. The Corazon in the back was from the Setsunakou lady. But I totes get it about bein freaked out bout dolls!
I don't like the baby dolls or porcelain ones much myself but I usually keep my stuff on a bookshelf with my manga. IIIIIII Just need to get a bigger bookshelf however all I can ever find is the shitty ones you breath on and they die. I found a nice one from Ikea but MAYBE it's cause it's coming from Sweden but THE SHIPPING WAS OVER $200. I had to nope outta that real fast. Maybe it was due to the canal thing? Maybe not I have no clue.

Personally I just mix latex and acrylic paint it works just fine

I have some wild stories, not gonna lie. As neckbeardy and fantasy as it might sound, it's always interesting to be on the inside track where it concerns people paying big bucks for rare texts.

I had been advertising three very, very early Japanese printed English-Japanese dictionaries a few months back, didn't have any serious offers for a while. All of a sudden I get a DM from a bookseller I'd dealt with in Japan on a few occasions. He declined my offer on the full set, but recommended me to a client he knew. Asked for a few highly specific condition appraisals, detailed pics of the booksellers' stamps, then offered me a few grand for all three. Obviously I accepted lol

You'd be surprised how much is already online, usually on archive.net and a few other places. Invaluable for creating facsimiles or recreating a few pages to scale.

I do have a few 17th century texts that even the Bodleian, BL, and LoC don't have in their collections, so maybe they'll be worth disguising sometime. I've only ever done that for circulating copies to friends, as it is quite a time consuming process.

Lots of handwritten Chinese books anywhere from 2-300 years old too. I've no doubt some of them are unique specimens and priceless, and would certainly benefit being officially identified and translated.

Playing modded Minecraft. Autistic, I know, but you'd be amazed how much shit you can do with Minecraft mods and modpacks - nuclear reactors, alchemy, lots of crazy shit.

-Currency collecting, both coins and notes. I sort them into 2 general categories of "from my travels" and "donated by someone else" then everything goes in Date Acquired -> Value order.

-Photography. Less active now after being done studying abroad. (:_(

-Vidya and emulation. Mostly archiving and replaying games I'm nostalgic for.

-General weebdom: anime, manga, figures, artbooks and everything in between.

I'm also dabbling in weightlifting and bodybuilding, I love learning about how to strengthen the human body though I haven't found much success personally yet.

Here's one of my favourite photos I've taken:

Writing, reading, video games and emulation, sculpting, comics and animation, including anime/manga and other foreign comics and cartoons, cooking, documentaries, and recently I've started getting into crafting plastic and rubber figurines, puppet-making, and photography.

For reading, I like to read a mix of factual and fictional books. I don't care too much about genres. I just like to read good stories! I also love reading about history, religion, and culture. I used to like politics and philosophy, but I'm really burnt out on those topics.

I love watching indie animated films, whether they're American or foreign. I also love indie comics. For sculpting, I love using polymer clay. I also use potter's clay and other materials if and when I have access to them.

I love to write short stories, sketches, and essays. Just like my other hobbies, I write for fun. I have no intention of being a big name author or whatever.

I also love to cook! I'm not a master chef or intend to be one, but I just love to try out new recipes. It's fun to make new types of meals!

I like to build computers, research for fun, mess with computers, comics(Eastern and Western), and play video games. Also enjoy finding metal bands from third world countries. Botswana has a pretty decent metal scene.

Used to collect PS2 games. No longer do this because I now have all the games I wanted. Would like to acquire the rest of the SMT games that got Western releases on the system, but the Raidou games are no longer 20 dollars a piece. Waited too long. Have a sizeable DS collection as well.

I like autistically following economy shit and the markets, I guess defense industry is kinda my hobby, I like following wars and conflicts and shit, I also like gambling (not in a degenerate gambler way, I always win), sports betting, I watch some sports but these days mainly only big boxing fights and my football team, not sure if hobby but I smoke cigars, I kinda collect knives, I don't really feel like a collector I just compulsively buy a lot of knives, I've been also training different combat sports for years but this is now problematic due to fake pandemic (also I can already beat up 99% of people so I'm not very motivated)

My unrealized hobby is Fishing, I love watching fishing tv shows, I admire the Fishermen, the art of outwitting the Fish is noble and beautiful

I change hobbies a lot, sometimes I wish I could stick with things a bit better and advance my skills instead of bouncing around. Currently I like cooking, learning programming, crypto, pc building, and I'm sort of interested in mechanical keyboards. A previous hobby was minimalism (if you can call it a hobby) so that kind of keeps me from diving into the keyboards because it's pretty consumerist. Prior to the minimalism hobby I collected various things but found it ultimately unsatisfying so I try to focus on hobbies that are doing things or learning.
I also enjoy doxing and osint as a hobby, sometimes I will look up random people like journalists that write something especially idiotic or just anybody I think might have an interesting history and see what I can find. I never look up friends or anything though.

I write songs and record music with a couple of friends. I wish I could share our album here but nah.

I'm working on getting more experience with linux and programming, and I'm just starting to do some digital hoarding in preparation of the coming digital apocalypse. Archiving content that is at risk of censorship.

Pretty much every weekend I'm not working, I make my way to estate sales and thrift stores and pretty much collect anything that's old and obsolete. For awhile I was selling the stuff I didn't really have interest in on eBay, making some decent side money but ebay pissed me off so now I'm waiting for a crypto-centric alternative to eBay.

I try to read as much as possible, mostly non-fiction philosophy and psychology. I'm a big fan of Jung.
