What’s your weird habit or unconscious behaviour?

I bite my nails a lot, often not even as an anxiety response.

I’ve also recently started always getting static shocks from the long pants and long sleeve shirts I have to wear for work, and every time I get out of my car and touch the door I get a shock. I’ve now started pressing my arm against the door and grounding myself through my shirt sleeve to minimise the pain from zapping myself. It’s not even a conscious effort, it’s purely reflex - I only just noticed I do this today too.

Feel free to rate me jigsaw piece

Rating jigsaw even though I also have that static complex. Even since I moved to a more perennially damp area and I haven't felt a static shock in years I still tap the car before closing the door out of habit.

I count letters and words in my head. Like (x) word has 8 letters in it, divide it in half is 4... Also I look for visual patterns. Like "Catgirl" has an obvious pattern if you look at the heights of the letters. Also I take a sentence and try to shorten it as much as possible, changing words and stuff. Etc etc etc etc

Am I autistic? Probably.

Static complex! First of all, I didn’t realize I’ve been doing this most of my life cause I hate being zapped, and second, that other people do the same thing, and third, there’s a name for it lol. We should start a support group.
Another thing I’ve done most of my life without really being aware of it, is counting my steps when I’m outside. Its so far in the background of my thoughts that I can carry on conversations, etc, then pick up the number correctly afterwards. Weird.
All I can figure is it’s a primitive gps thing so people could retrace their steps and not get lost or something.

Recently quit biting my nails after a lifetime of biting them by reminding myself that they are chronically filthy. Your fingers are your exploration tools - everything you touch, and that touches you throughout the day. Imagine the horror you are putting in your mouth. It's akin to licking money. Don't lick money, fren.

I always have to be covered with a blanket when sleeping. Even in the summer I’ll be under the covers. Just can’t fall asleep otherwise
That's monster insurance. Any exposed part is vulnerable.

I always have to have a fan running in my bedroom. I feel like I can't breathe otherwise. This has lead to me needing to learn to maintain and fix fan motors and ultimately replace my box fan every 6 years or so. Once the capacitor starts dying (when fan needs to be hand spun to start), that's when it's time to buy a new one.

You might find it interesting that a lot of South Koreans believe fans can kill you if you leave them on when you sleep.

This is so interesting to me. Have you been to a doctor for that? Is your room full of dust or something? Have you tried opening a window? I’ve had that exact feeling before, but I’ve also had a history of lung issues so I don’t even know if that’s normal or not anymore.

(I am assuming you are not obese)

Yeah knew about this already. I keep a humidifier running during dry months. Anyone stupid enough to die from a fan running deserves it tbh.

It's not like an ocd thing worthy of medical attention, it is at most an autistic personality quirk. I just feel comfortable with the fan running and going without it bothers me.
