Very rarely I see people opposing it publicly that are actually parents. And in their cases they don't have their children go through it, which is really the most one can do about it.
The problem with this is where do you draw the line with "slight chance of life-long harm while carrying little benefit"? Time and time again we see government overreach into controlling children, you can bet someone will argue that having parents homeschool their children falls under that umbrella.
It isn't really the most you can do. You can outlaw it, and punish Doctor's who practice it.
You draw the line at unneccessary elective surgery. For example, parents shouldn't be allowed to permit piercing artists to put piercings in their childrens' faces (I don't mean ears and noses), because there is a not-insignificant chance of facial paralysis.
That's already being argued and outlawing un-necessary, freuently harmful (even if only marginally so), elective surgery on a childs genitals, isn't really going to strengthen the arguments for forced vaccinations and state education.
This is hyperbolic and hysterical; especially considering that the dam has already broken with regard to legislating from the bench. I'll concede though that this should be outlawed through legislation, unfortunately our politicians care more about the tribe and their money than American children.
It's just gay wedding all over again. You know you can't get it passed through public opinion so you act like a bitch and try to make it illegal through the courts instead. It's what comes again and again with the right wing on the internet, you can't convince people to do something so you go mask off that it should be banned, justifying everyone who didn't buy your bullshit.
A middle ground would be ideal. Make it heavily, and I mean heavily, discouraged unless your religion makes it mandatory. Would help the average joe that is misinformed and believes this practice is helpful instead of what it really is, worse than useless. The religious folk would still get the right to follow their beliefs.
Mandating hospitals to explain on the chances of botched operations, long term side effects and validity of the results is what should be done in any kind of surgery. If this isn't done then it needs to be amended. Actively trying to fight it is just being over aggressive to the point that you aren't taken seriously.
This is what really pisses me off. The anti-cut crowds moaning about their dick, I'm referring to the people on the restoring subreddits, and complaining about jews turns people off. The average person is going to dismiss ani-cut people as loser antisemites instead of focusing on the message, stop cutting up children.
The UK wont fund it in the National Health Service and I think most other European countries are the same for their health services. In the USA Medicaid has certainly covered it because one of the lawsuits I reference in my opening post is someone attempting to get past the refusal to acknowledge it as harmful by attacking it on the basis that Medicaid is forbidden by state law from funding unnecessary medical procedures. They made progress by this method but I'm not sure how the case has progressed since then. For US health insurance, I am informed that infant circumcisions are widely covered by health insurance. Again, I imagine the Jewish lobby, ADL et al. would raise a fuss at attempting to withdraw that.
An infant isn't a jew or a muslim. Nor, really, is a 12 year old. They're still forming and learning. An adult can be a Jew or a Muslim. A requirement to do this because of your faith isn't a right to do it on someone else.
