I actually like it. I'm pretty sure a lot of the more deliberately annoying sounds in Boards of Canada songs are at least partly sawtooth.

I actually play the recorder properly, used to play in a local orchestra. Actually did graded exams on both the descant and treble recorders.

I too am Scottish and I like the sound of the pipes. I guess its cos I have pipers in my family so have grown up around them.
