Which website do you really hate the most or given you the most trouble? - Cutting of my connections to Facebook made me feel 10 times as better.

Most of the shit on the internet in general.

It's very hard to find something that is actually a genuine old style informational blog or forum that isn't filled with clickbait, ads, or sponsored content. I used to follow a few blogs when it started and you could generally glean some good information from them, but now since blogging became a business it always feels like there is something that they are implicitly trying to sell you on.

I don't mind necessarily, but it's now like everything that can be monetized will be monetized and there is a lot of generally useless information on the internet. Sadly if you want better advice, you're better of buying a book on the subject you're interested in or finding a dedicated hardcore forum.

As for social media, that and clickbait articles really hold a space of pure hatred in my heart. Social media because it was a genuine idea that got turned into poison by algorithmic manipulation and assholes looking to brigade you on the internet. (Not to mention now being used as leverage for cancel culture.)

Clickbait articles, because they are literal trash and have essentially reduced the field of journalism (An already highly questionable field of quality in actual factual reporting versus activism,) into the lowest common denominator for research, reducing most of them to essentially being twitter reporters and ghost writers for other publications. (Fake news spreads quickly, because most of these dumbasses are in such a hurry to grab a scoop that they don't actually do any research, and they constantly take the bait time and time again.) This type of internet journalism is essentially cancer.

My banks website. It barely works and the app doesn't even mange that.
>go bank website or app once a week on Sat morning to make sure paycheck is right
>You entered a wrong password
>You entered a wrong password, account LOCKED.
>have to wait till monday to call branch to unlock account
>get in, must change password
>password can not be one used before
>come up with some new R4ND0mSh1t password
>week goes by, forget new password
>go back to start

I am gunna go a different way. I hate corporate facing wholesaler websites, they are so hostile to end user experience in their fancy artsy bullshit design. Several of them I have seen, when you click the search bar, it covers the entire window in an opaque white and writes out "type your text here" one character at a time, and you can't start typing until it finishes writing that out (and you have to click on the text itself or it closes the search window).

My other pet peeves include:
  • Commercial websites that dont have contact phone numbers, email addresses and physical addresses listed. (At minimum on the contact us page, ideally general Phone and Email details in the top inch of every page) .
  • Pages which don't have a "last updated: date" footer.
  • Having your only means of initiating contact being a "contact us" form (half the time they dont even work).
  • No option for product images in searches.
  • No filters in searches with a database of over 50 products
  • No list view for searches
  • No option for 25, 50, 100 results per page
  • Search filters which automatically apply when you click them, refreshing the page, assuming you couldn't possibly want to apply more than one.
I used to hate the instant message questions popups, but I have gotten good use from them recently so I tolerate them now.

So that I fit in with this thread: I also hate reddit for their search and desktop comments functionality community.

Pinterest kinda sucks nowadays. It barely functions in Chrome, forcing me to use the app if I want to actually look at something. Also, the community is more delicate than shitty porcelain. Same with Quora.

Google Adsense. it has to be one of the most anti-human services ever designed, even though it makes up >50% of Google's Revenue. You can't escape it, they control a majority of all internet advertising. Even other ad companies primarily serve ads provided by Google. I am 90% that there are no humans working at Adsense. It's all bots. Bots that approve your site, bots that pay you, bots that terminate your account for no given reason. And when I say no given reason I mean no given reason. Google REFUSES to provide any reasons for bans over general "policy violations" reasons. And once your account is terminated, you're screwed. Unless you start a social media firestorm, Adsense accounts NEVER get reinstated. Adsense also terminates accounts near payout days and refuses to pay outstanding balances (they have been sued and forced to pay out millions but the practice still continues). Because of how powerful Google is, they could terminate your account one day before payout and take all the money for themselves and somehow that isn't wage theft because you are a contractor and apparently that means you are Google's slave. There is NO Adsense customer support, the best you will get is a shitty forum inferior to phpBB where the only questions and answers are from pajeets who can't speak english. You would think that Google could develop a forum at least at the level of Quora or just use XenForo but no. Even worse, if your Adsense gets terminated, you will never be eligible for YouTube monetization. And you will eventually get banned. You always will. The best chance you have to survive long term on Adsense is by trying to figure out how to fix the issues on the "Policy Violations" page because Google makes it as obtuse as possible to figure out what to do. Instead of following Googles advice if you get a page wide violation, ignore it. If you have a site-wide violation, remove the page, do not try to fight it even if you are in the right, Google has the ability to terminate your account for any and all reasons. The Adsense UI is terrible. There is no mobile app for it either. You can exploit the automation though by bait and switching the content. You make a site that is guaranteed to pass whatever stupid checks the Adsense bot does and then switch it with real content. Subdomains don't need to get verified. If you get banned from Adsense, just create a new Google account with same address, name, SSN, etc. They don't check.

Google has also reinvented popup ads but worse. They call them "vignette ads." When you click a link it shows a popup in the window you are viewing and you have to find the X or close button to navigate to the next page. At least popups were opened in a new window. Google's Auto Ads are extremely stupid. For the company that made Tensorflow, their auto ads placement AI is extremely bad. It will often insert ads in readable content including over videos making them unwatchable (this violates Google's own rules and they will penalize YOU for the auto ads placement if someone reports it). And there is no real way to prevent this that I know of other than disabling auto ads.

None of this is normal for internet advertising companies. I have worked with multiple other ad companies and they all communicated over email, not in a sadist anti-human, bot-driven web interface. I can't wait for the day that someone makes something to replace Adsense and Adsense falls. When Adsense falls, Google will fall because all of their pet projects are funded by ads on content they didn't even write. Also, don't try to monitize site search with Google Adsense, if someone searches up "big booty goth gf" in your search bar, the inane Adsense robots will believe that your search page contains big booty goth gf and will add that page to the list of policy violations. They don't let you advertise on machine generated content (not talking about scraped content even) anyways even though that's how they make their money. You have to use Googles Custom Search Engine with monetization which is far less flexible and never meshes well with the rest of your site.

The courts actually ruled that because Google violates everyone's copyright equally, they are not culpable for copyright infringement. You are just supposed to "know" that Google will violate your copyright. So if you made a site that indiscriminately rehosts every mp4 it can find, it is apparently fair use as long as you respond to DMCA requests!

Here's what I really really hate about reddit:

1. You go onto what appears to be the most appropriate sub for whatever issue it is you want to ask someone for advice about or whatever

2. You get helpful replies from other users

3. Draconian nazi mod comes in and locks your thread because of some absolutely pointless rule it broke while you are still in the middle of receiving help from friendly people who were more than happy to give it

I can't even browse Reddit. People compose their posts to get upvotes not to actually communicate anything helpful. Some snarky long winded reply or pointless 1 liners from retards will get voted over the correct reply 9 times out of ten. Its just a massive waste of time.
I would rather go to a UBB Forum or IB and get "lulz you dumb nigger you forgot to set value=A and do a /reload_config" waste time with Reddit.

I think its already been said in this thread how Facebook,Reddit, and worst of all DISCORD have just about gobbled up all the quality little niche interest UBB's and mailing lists. Everything is dumbed down and the same now. We had to lower the bar everywhere so retards don't have to learn anything new to participate.

When was this? I thought they were still with their Scientologist owners.
Neopets has actually changed hands several times over the years.

The first was the original owners/creators, Adam Powell and Donna Williams. The "Neopets was owned by Scientologists" thing was an exaggeration that came out of some clickbait article. I think it was Adam who clarified that the Scientologist in question was somebody they had hired to manage the business/marketing end of things after the site took off in popularity. Supposedly this guy did want to put some Scientology rhetoric into the site, but Adam and Donna wouldn't let him.

Then around 2006, the site was sold to Viacom. They were the ones who added the real-life cash currency and dress-up stuff about a year later. Viacom owned the site until around 2014, when they sold it to Jump Start, a company that made educational software for kids. Then a few years ago (2018? 2019?), Jump Start got bought out by some Chinese MMO/mobile game company called NetDragon and became a subsidary of them.

So yeah, it went from being a more independent enterprise, to being owned by a major US media company, to being sold to a company most known for making edutainment CD-ROMs in the 90's, to now being owned by Chinese mobile gaming overlords.

GOD BLESS YOU, BROTHER!
ALLAH SMILES ON YOU!

I believe this is basically accurate, but it should be noted that the only people to invest any money post Facebook Flash game era are the chinks.

Snapchat is firmly in the "only gets worse over time" category. It loves to send notifications for when your friends post stories, people you may know, or even when people are typing. Reminders to use their app. When you finally accidentally click a notification and it brings you to where you can see your friend's stories, you get inundated with clickbait and ethots paying to shill their only fans. But not just any clickbait, snapchat has super clickbait. Heres just a random sampling:

Sometimes you get great juxtapositions, like stories about one dude infecting a whole community with AIDs next to James Charles's face.

Imgur is useful for uploading and sharing large pics, but their community is the overlap between Facebook grandmas and SJW redditors. TDS, NPCs dunking on Karens, that stuff. As for content, it's great if your idea of comedy is the same twitter screen caps ad neasuem. Also they blocked referrals from KF so fuck em. And kinda shit on mobile without the app.

I took headshots for a friend in exchange for some beer, and they asked me if I ever thought about doing it professionally. Just the thought of having to get a facebook to market myself made me cringe.

Edit: and FUCK WEBPs

Tumblr: because it's tumblr. And because the pictures take ages to load

Reddit: everybody is so nice, all the time. They force you to be nice. I don't like unnecessary hostility, but I don't like excessive kindness either. I was in a subreddit which leaned more on the "mean for the sake of it" side. You can criticize or make jokes about feminists, jews, disabled people, asians, etc. But not niggers, because that gets you banned. And you can't outright insult other users or you get banned, too. Fucking hypocrites.

Facebook: it's full of ads. The site was clearly created by a jew

Kwai: it's like tiktok (I think it's a chink company as well) but for third-worlders. It's three times worse than tiktok, and the content is more brownish. Unlike tiktok, it isn't regulated or heavily censored, so videos of animal abuse are common

Twitter by a long shot. When Twitter first came out, I thought it was stupid that you had such a small character limit and it would surely fail. Boy was I wrong and disappointed in humanity. The culture is infinitely worse than the nadir of tumblr culture and the place is filled with shillbots to manipulate public perception on various issues and people.

Twitter is perfectly fine with open activism for incest, pedophilia, and bestiality. Burn it all.

Pinterest has a community? I thought it was just a massive vortex into which every single image ever posted on the internet is devoured and subsequently spat out onto every search engine known to man. If Pinterest were a human ailment it'd be cancer, AIDS, Ebola and the WuFlu rolled into one.

I know this is intended as a joke, but they're mainly in the comments sections of any given image. My friend stumbled upon one user who was weirdly defensive of incest ships and ships with large age gaps. Went to check her boards, and she turned out to have a few boards dedicated to incestuous ships w/ large age gaps... mainly in the Gravity Falls fandom. Like Dipper with either of his great uncles. Made me mad uncomfortable. They're also really prone to breaking into arguments.

Who'd've thunk that hoovering up every single fucking image on the internet would lead to slapfights and degeneracy on your platform? gg Pinterest.

Doesn't reddit regularly wish for / celebrate the deaths of anyone "right wing"?
I really don't know. But I was talking about this pervasive... I don't know, mentality? Of overboard niceness in social networks and websites like Reddit.
You can't even have the slightest hint of criticism of anything or anyone, or else a retard appears to wag his finger at you.
