Whiskey - It's the water of life!

Lots of people talking Wild Turkey and the like, but I've always been partial to Bulleit for cheap bourbon/rye. I never like regular Wild Turkey and the high-proof stuff also doesn't taste quite right either.

I want to say the people who own the Bulleit brand had some product placement in a movie, so the whiskey types started to shy away from it. Whiskey snobs are just like craft beer snobs, they pay attention to who owns what and what they do with the brand.

Which is entirely appropriate. Whiskey has a knack for quality degrading at a stupid fast pace.
No kidding remember the fast backtracking Maker’s Mark had to do after talking about how wonderful it was that they were going to start watering down their booze?

I recently went through a bottle of The Balvenie Carribbean Cask 14 year old single malt. Bit pricey, 50-70 bucks, but it was smooth and good as hell. Any reviews you see raving about it, aren't just hype, it is a great drink.

Gentleman Jack is nice in the lower tier range, but my go to will always be Glenfiddich.

Whiskey is for drinking by the shot or straight from the bottle, not for sniffing at like some skinny jeans hipster fairy.

A while back, I tried some Tullamore Dew and good lord, it felt like I was drinking fire. More recently though, I had a shot of Cu Chulainn at the local Irish pub. It was pretty good and fairly cheap for a shot of it, as it was seven dollars (they have a whiskey that is 87 dollars for a glass, fuck me). A smooth and buttery Irish whiskey with a hint of nut.

I like single malt Scotch. Macallan and Glenfiddich are favorites, because they're affordable to get on a basis of every other month, and I've grown custom to them. I have friends who can get stuff for me at good prices, too.

Macallen is not affordable lol. While it's great and I really like the line, even the younger stuff is pricer than it's competing. Frankly, I don't buy it much (almost all of mine is gifted) due to cost. Glenfiddich is nice and more sanely priced. Since you mentioned a hook up, try everything enjoy it.

I've spoken my praises about it (and have some now fuck you it's past noon and I'm off work) the dalwhinnie. 15 years here in tax rape pa it's 50 bucks.

I pretty much just drink scotch. Usually Peaty stuff like Talisker or Aberlour 12 as can get it dirt cheap. Best recommendation for a bourbon virgin? Tried Makers Mark and it was a massive letdown.

I like Knob Creek. A friend of mine liked Elijah Craig (haven’t personally tried it), but my favorite if you can find it is Angel’s Envy.

I don't know what it is about Angel's Envy but that's my coffee mix. It's not bad and can be drank straight, maybe it's the blends of coffee I like but sunday morning, a splash (ok few heavy glugs) in coffee get a book sit in the hammock and digest breakfast. Life is good.

18% liquor tax is a bitch, isn't it?
>MFW it's cheaper to leave the state to buy beer made in the state.

One of many reasons to live near PA state borders, or make a giant fucking ruckus to destroy both the Johnstown Flood Tax (responsible for the 18% liquor tax) along with the PLCB.
Once or twice a year I get orders from all my friends and hit the Chritstia Mall area (DE no sales tax) Costco and go hog wild for me and friends and family.

As long as you don't hit the border places and go in and out cops never hassle you while technically it's a crime.

Seriously- Monkey Shoulder is a stupid good deal for $30 here. Mostly Glenfiddich but there's enough Balvenie in there that it doesn't just taste like Glenfiddich 12.

I've really taken to Rittenhouse bottled-in-bond Rye lately, too.

Orange or Green label? because the Rhy green version is amazing for it's price bracket.

Green label. Hard to tell as I i'm a retard with the pedigree of bourbon. Also, eurofag so got it for approx $40 and unsure whether much of that is import tax and much cheaper in America. Got to ask, what's the duty like for scotch in the USA? Got a bottle of Dalwhinnie at duty free on way into Tunisia a while back and sold half the bottle for twice the price i bought it for.

Good Choice, but I cant help with the US prices, I am painfully British.

Depends where you stick the tea bag ol' chap. Whisky isn't cheap either way. Recommend a trip to any Scottish pub. 35ml is the standard measure and often i've found the landlord more than enthusiastic to show off a ridiculous scotch cellar.
