Let us know how the 25 is. Have a Laphroaig 10 bottle that I got when I was trying to decide between it and Ardbeg 10 for an entry islay; but they were out of the Ardbeg. Like it but I think it still needed some of the edges worn a bit further down.
I have tried it, it's fantastic. Indeed all the edges of the 10yr are worn down.

Tried the Monkey Shoulder last night. It is quite good, though a little sweet. Very good for the price. I think it would do really well in cocktails.

As I said i prefer it in a highball and wasn’t wild about it in a rob roy.

AFAIK Beam Suntory changed it from Small Batch 9 years old to Small Batch (NAS) in 2016 and changed it back in 2020.

I have a bourbon itch that's gonna need some scratching soon but my go-to store is almost out of pretty much everything, including Wild Turkey. I'm not really interested in plain Four Roses, Jim Beam, or Jack Daniel's, so my options are
  • Four Roses Small Batch
  • JD Gentleman Jack
  • JD Single Barrel (90 proof)
  • JD Red Dog Saloon
  • JB Black Label (formerly 8 yro)
  • JB Double Oak
  • Knob Creek 9
  • Redemption
Or I'll have to wait for a re-stock which may or may not be coming.
Following up on the Knob Creek thing because I actually know the answer to why they changed it for a bit. They just straight up didn’t set aside enough barrels when they were prepping the brand, so demand outstripped supply unless they lowered the standard for a while. Elijah Craig had to do the same thing and is small batch instead of 9 or 12 year.

Dear Jefferson, I love you, and the ocean is pricy but anything that makes me think it's a good idea to go outside in 24 F (-4.4C) to pee is based AF.

My brother got me a bottle of Whistlepig 10 year to celebrate me getting a new job. Shame I don’t have any sweet vermouth in the house.

Oh, lordy, here we have two options, throw it out and tell me where your trash can is or come over and we can open some of my good vermouth.

Trying to semi support local (since I went insane with absinte AND pernod) got dads hat rye. ready for fat tuesday.

I use Cocchi Americano.

Haven't drank since 2020 but I'm seriously thinking of buying myself a fifth of Jameson for the weekend. Haven't had it in a while and it is quite honestly my favorite whiskey.

Opened up the Basil Haydens Artfully Aged last night. Very very good. Has a different flavor than a typical bourbon, I'm curious what the mash bill is on it. Excellent neat. I'll probably pick up another bottle if I see one.

A purely theoretical question: would anyone in their right mind pay €180 for a bottle of Blanton's Single Barrel?

You can just call it Basil Haydens.

Fuck no.

I meant di Torino. Must have been thinking about making corpse revivers.

So I've pissed away a lot of money this last year on booze and I have to say Rabbit Hole's Dareringer has to be my favorite bourbon so far. Good straight, in cocktails, and my favorite for bourbon and root beer. Damn shame it went from 60 to 80 bucks.

I'm glad I live in a state where liquor prices at the stores is set at MSRP because if I paid 100 bucks for a bottle of Eagle Rare I would probably return it and spit in the owner's face. Eagle Rare is not 100 dollar bourbon, it's just fine at the $27 it retails for.

Manhattan? If you have it use Averno and make a black Manhattan. Really good. 2 oz. bourbon/rye, 1 oz. Averno, 2 dashes of Angostura and 2 dashes orange bitters.

Eagle Rare is a hell of a value at $27, I live in Bourbon country and it's $50. Worth it at $50. I agree not worth it at $100.

I really want to try this:

This is probably my favorite whiskey for sipping neat or for highball, honesty works for anything given the incredibly low price of 13-15 bucks. Granted I haven't had any higher end corn whiskeys but corn is not the easiest to source anyways.

My favorite whisky scene drama is the total nonce's who "Only Scottish whisky is real whisky" and my enjoying single malts from Seattle (Westland), Taiwan (Kavalan) and India (Amrut) that easily puts some of the most premium Scotch distillers (Macallan, Dalmore, etc) to absolute shame.
