Whiskey - It's the water of life!

Whiskey's my favorite alcohol, vodka second, lager third. I used to exclusively drink canadian because it was easy to swallow and not very strong in flavor but over the years I've tried branching out. Bourbon is okay (a bit too sweet for me but I'll finish it), irish is milquetoast meh, dislike tenessee, rye is my favorite and I can chug it all day, scotch was actually my first alcohol but as a teenager I found the flavor so repugnant (but still drank it lol) I swore it off as an adult.
I decided to try it again, have a bottle of glendronach 12 that I've been drinking slowly because the flavor is really difficult. When I was a little kid I used to lick wood furniture and this tastes exactly the same lol. It's got this offputting wood varnish flavor in the beginning but after a while that goes away and it tastes like real, nice, deep whisky. Love/hate it. I instantly spit out smoky scotches so I would like to try more smokeless/sherried scotches like this one. Any reccommendations?
I can only tolerate rye and scotch. Bourbon all tastes the same, and that taste is so uninteresting.

I'm still pretty new to the world of Scotch but most of what you'll find in the Speyside region is very approachable and beginner friendly, while Islay Scotch generally runs in the peated/smokey direction.
Glenlivet 12 is a good starting point, I'm currently enjoying the Glenlivet Caribbean Reserve. I've heard great things about Macallan 12 aside from the price point being too damn high.

My absolute favorite Whiskey is the Dalmore #15 it is such a smooth and easy drink, beautiful sweet fruity notes.... Yum, it is however also very expensive and probably hard to get a hold of outside of the UK.

My favorite shop bought whisky is the classic Glenfiddich #12 amazing neat, on the rocks or as a mixer.

Set aside $200 and find a 1994 or 1995 bottle of Glen Garioch. Best scotch I've ever had. It tastes and smells like a Biscoff wrapped in moist tobacco leaves and dipped in smoked dark toffee. It was the special 10th sample in a tasting of 10 top-shelf scotches at a very authentic Scottish pub in Tennessee. Tasting it alone would've been like $60, but they threw it in as the grand finale.

Sip it slowly, neat, from a Glencairn, with a couple drops of water to liberate some of the ethanol fumes. You'll thank me.

Now that sounds like a Whisky worth trying if I can find a bottle I'll definitely give it a shot.

Had Buffalo Trace for the first time a while back. Really went well with chocolate. Stuff is 40$ here so it stings my wallet. Been spending to much money lately so i had to settle for some cheap Kentucky bourbon in a plastic bottle. Now that's getho shit.

Don't hate yourself like that. Bourbon is nothing to skimp on. Even Bacardi in a plastic bottle is better. Life is too short for shitty bourbon. I really won't go beneath Old Grand-Dad.

All bourbon tastes the same because it has manufacture requirements that make it taste the same. People who think different bourbons taste different are imagining it or trying to seem like they have a special palate.

People above 70 IQ drink rye or scotch, where there isn't some dumb boomer Protected Designation of Origin preventing any degree of variety between products.

Die heretic. If you think Basil Hayden or even Suntory is remotely comparable to low-tier bourbons like Old Grand-Dad or the ones I won't even name, you are a worthless faggot and have zero taste and need to die.

Suntory isn't a bourbon. Basil Hayden's plain jane bourbon tastes like Old Granddad that sat in a barrel longer. You're just a retard who thinks you can tastes a difference other than longer wood contact because you think it means you have a discerning palate. They use the same grain bill and the same barrel.

The only reason it's not a "bourbon" is it's not from Kentucky. You're an autistic shit for brains.

No, it isn't bourbon because:
1) Bourbon's grain bill must be at least 51% corn. Suntory uses mostly barley.
2) Bourbon must be aged in new American oak barrels. Suntory is aged in used barrels.
3) Japanese whiskey is made in the style of scotch, because its whiskey industry was founded by a Scot whose distilling career was all scotch.

California "champagne" also differs in both trivial and major reasons from real "Champagne" from the protected designation of origin region, but has been grandfathered into the category at least in world opinion simply because it was called that for a long time. I mean fuck champagne anyway, it's the most overrated wine in existence, but it's a ridiculous "but a tomato is ACKSHYUALLY a BERRY" own.

Even fairly respected critics discuss Suntory "bourbon" as if it were one, even though it's obviously not compliant with legal definitions, and really, the federal fucking government (those definitions you are citing are from law from the glowies and specifically the Federal Standards of Identity for Bourbon) is my least regarded source of authoritative information on what is actually what.

How many drinking youtube videos where the girl drinkers say they love the whiskey???

They're not particularly hard to find.

Nah. Wild Turkey 101 comes in a plastic bottle and that's a quality bourbon.

No. Different bourbons can taste very different. Biggest gulf is something like Jim Beam being peanutty and Buffalo Trace having a fruity character.

Because it is.

Bourbon's grain bill must be at least 51% corn. Suntory uses mostly barley.

Depending on the Suntory, it can be either a single malt (only malted barley) or blended (malted barley and other grains)

California "champagne" also differs in both trivial and major reasons from real "Champagne" from the protected designation of origin region,

California Champagne doesn't taste anything like Champagne.

Even fairly respected critics discuss Suntory "bourbon" as if it were one

No critic, respected or otherwise, has every referred to Suntory malt whisky as "bourbon".

You can still get it in glass bottles. The plastic bottles are usually those 750 ml "traveler" bottles.
