The only special significance that white people have to the history of slavery is that white people are the only human beings in the history of the world who have almost stopped slavery. European enlightenment and humanitarian philosophy just happened to coincide with a period of time where Europeans were militarily superior to all other populations, and they enforced their humanitarian ideals on basically everyone else, forcing them to end slavery. Some powers were able to resist, for a time, like the United States.
