Today, Katie Herzog and Jesse Singal present the first ever BARPod two-parter in known human history. This duology will chronicle, in exhaustive detail, a calamitous struggle between Kiwi Farms, a gossip board and/or harassment amplifier and/or literal digital version of Hitler’s mountain rereat and/or actual terrorist organization (depending on you ask), and Keffals, a Twitch streamer and trans activist. I'mma be real tho, just because something isn't a legally actionable 'true threat' doesn't mean it's not still a threat. Retards posting detailed fantasies about how much they want to kill a specific tranny right after her address gets posted are absolutely posting violent threats, even if they're not credible or legally actionable. If I was a stupid twitter tranny on the internet and people were posting that shit right after I got doxed, I'd feel pretty threatened, and I think you would too.

She can be pretty funny.
I think she probably was memeing off of "the internet is a series of tubes" with that.

if you consider anything that make trannies feel threatened to be threats, then we couldn't even post deadnames because that is also literal violence. others say it's a threat to say we hope someone kills themselves. I'm not defending the post but I think the distinction is worth it when most outlets are saying we are actual terrorists who are trying to kill the guy with guns and bombs

^And I think the thing to never forget is these are terminally online people who know that these threats are functionally the same as the 12 year old screaming he's gonna kill you on CoD; assuming you actually have an insane murderous fuck on your hands, they're still never going to actually hunt you down after publicly threatening you online, they'd do it in the opposite order.

I think Katie has The Farms confused with lolcow.farm in her head, which would makes sense because image boards are a very different sort of thing than normal forums unless you're used to them.

And also forums and imageboards are strange to younger people as well as older ones that didn't grow up with them. For a lot of people, their first really engagement online was through either Facebook/Twitter or apps on a smartphone. They weren't "here" before, so their understanding on how things work is a little confused.
Good on 'em for trying, though.

Oh snap, the other guy on this podcast asked Jesse if Taylor Lorenz had a conflict of interest in reporting on it because she has a thread here. Jesse defends her, but I know people on the BAR podcast subreddit were questioning why he was going so easy on her during the first part.

Someone on the subreddit for the podcast suggested that maybe Lorenz was there for him when his mother died and he has a deeper tie to her because of that.

It's soap opera level parasocial shit but that's the gossip. Unless they're fucking I don't understand why he avoids talking about her obvious bad behavior.

If it's true that they're close friends, it's not surprising. People are willing to overlook flaws of friends and family, or at least not trash them publicly. Almost no one is pure evil, and, awful though Lorenz is, maybe she is a supportive and sympathetic friend. I saw the Reddit discussion about Singal's mother's death and it's a reasonable theory.

That's why the old standard "I hope he kills himself" is so good. You get across that you would celebrate the person being permanently removed from society so they can't harm any more children, while at the same time removing yourself from any threats of physical violence.
