not sure about iFunny, but Funnyjunk has a very simple algorithm. Most sites use some for of text recognition to identify content as "good" content (like liberal values) or "bad" content (like conservative values) and manipulates the visibility and ranking of content to hide bad content and only show good content. Funnyjunk, however, only considers the number of votes and the age of the content when ranking it.
Also, I think all botting is banned, so no fake thumbs or brigading comments.
Plus, funnyjunk is pretty lenient on banning, only really doing so if someone is being incredibly vile or posting nudity on the SFW section. All bans are automatically IP bans, even when just short suspensions
Oh and most people forget funnyjunk is still around, and the admin put a lot of work into hiding his identity so he can't be attacked or bought out. For all we know he really is as he claims to be, Kim Jong Un, Supreme Leader of North Korea.
Additionally, anything on funnyjunk always has it's visibility decay over time. Generally you'll only see specific content once and it won't pop up in your feed again, so you don't come back to older content after composing complicated replies, unless you're drawn into a fight with a troll.
Funnyjunk was pretty pro-ukriane for a while, but now it seems most stuff about the war doesn't gain traction no matter the side. Unless it's really funny
