Why are newer cartoons so shitty?

Digital animation is becoming more and more popular and cheaper, rather than having a thousand slave children drawing the animation of a hair bouncing they can tween it with just a minor amount of editing. Not only that stock content can be reused without inhibits, the amount of freedom that digital animation is also allowing anyone and their dog to shit out millions of frames a second.

After the Misadventures of Flapjack, which is often associated to be the first in the minimalistic-hyper animation artistic movement, popularised the 'simplistic' cartoon style also became very popular and is considerably cheaper, even though it ran for less than the length of other popular shows.

Because you're old. Deal with it.

Flapjack wasn't really anything like Adventure Time, Regular Show, etc. though. Both in design sense and humor.

I think a lot of the hate towards newer cartoons seems to be biased due to the fact a very vocal part of cartoon fandoms happen to be adult spergs who grew up with older cartoons and can't accept the fact that things change and modern cartoons aren't necessarily aimed at them anymore. It doesn't help that the internet in general tends to be pretty hyperbolic about these kinds of things.

Yeah, I do like me some Looney Tunes and pre-movie Spongebob, but I realize modern cartoons aren't really made for me in mind and I just focus on other things.

Sure, you can go on and on about how cartoon A is objectively better than carton B. There is without a doubt cartoons that are undeniably shitty. However, I still feel there's still some amount of subjectivity to it all. Of course you're going to have some attachment to the shows you watched as a kid. And of course, as a teen or an adult, you'll look at newer cartoons with a more critical eye.

That's just me though.

As a bona-fide sperg, I think there still are some good cartoons lying around here and there, such as Gravity Falls or Rick and Morty.
However, with a wider means of communication comes more attention, and sperging, to all different kinds of cartoons. This internet culture may also translate into making certain flavors of shows better or worse. We tend to be too negative when reflecting on our current generation, when it's just nostalgia clouding our memory.

I've always noticed that people sperg about modern western animation being shit but they never question the modern anime industry. Whether or not it's a weeaboo connection, I don't know. There were plenty of shitty old anime, like Space Thunder Kids.

Which technically wasn't anime, but a Korean ripoff of anime...

And, yes, it's the weeaboo connection. It always is...

You know, the 90's really weren't the best time for cartoons like people say they are, right? Remember Mega Babies? No? Well that's because we choose to remember only the good stuff.

The cartoons I mostly watched, even as a 90's kid, were the old Hannah Barbara and the MGM Cartoons Tom & Jerry.

Don't miss them too much however.

No disrespect to OP but I hate this argument. It's like pretentious assholes who talk about how good music stopped existing in the 70s and everything now is shit. Shitty cartoons, like shitty music, has always existed. It's just that the shitty stuff gets forgotten while the good stuff gets remembered.

If anything, cartoons are getting better in comparison to a decade ago. I think people who say this stuff want to live in the past and can't acknowledge that as time changes, so do cartoons, movies, music, and other forms of media change as well. Not all change might be "good" but it's ridiculous to dismiss something just because it's modern.

I think this about sums up just about everything.

Sorry, but you really just sound like another nostalgia whore to me, OP.

I'm convinced that maybe you don't watch enough anime. I don't know - I don't care, either.

Cartoons / Anime, whatever, if kids love and/or respect it, WHY do we fucking adults care so badly?!

Canadian laws make it so there has to be a certain quota of Canadian content on TV. This is partly why Canada even has an animation industry its size to begin with.

It should be mentioned that the systems is not used to its best potential - on top of that, there are people in said system who pocket money meant to make shows of actual quality / merit had the money been there. Quite a corrupt system, overall.
