Why are so many of the most annoying lead singers so short?

Is it simply a version of the Napoleon Complex where lead singers feel the need to compensate for their short statures?

Here are some examples (and I’m sure there are others who you can think of):

Eddie Vedder - 5’6”
Bono - 5’4”
John Mellencamp - 5’7”
Billy Joe Armstrong - 5’6”
Axl Rose - 5’7”
Bruno Mars - 5’4”
Lil Wayne - 5’5”
Prince - 5’2”
Corey Feldman - 5’5”

This one is the least surprising to me. I've had a suspicion for years that his signature gravely voice isn't real and he's been doing that on purpose for 40 some years, especially after The Lost Boys.
But that's mainly because I know a manlet in real life that does put on a fake rough tough guy voice to compensate for being extremely short, and he sounds very similar to Feldman.

They give child actors puberty blockers and other chemicals to slow their growth, same thing happened to culkin, the harry potter kids, and frankie munez, its why they never grow up into real adults. Their developmental years are hindered.

I was almost agreeing with you, but Morrisey is a normal 5'11, and Billy Corgan is 6'2. Adam Levine is 5'11. Chris Martin is 6'. Scott Stapp is 5'10.

Being a singer and being annoying probably has more to do with being a front man than height. Most of them are annoying no matter how tall they are.

ETA: Jello Biafra and Ian MacKaye are both 5'9. So, I'm sticking with being the lead singer just makes someone more likely to be obnoxious (or get attention while being obnoxious).

This thread has also resulted.in me finding out most of the members of Insane Clown Posse are over 6'.

Glenn Danzig was left off, 5'3". Pompous fucking asshole, who can't sing to save his life. I love the video of him getting knocked out cold.

I looked him up. His real name is Glenn Anzalone. He's basically a tiny wop mixed with some english, irish, and scottish. Even though his stage name implies it, he doesn't have a drop of german blood.

I've heard that puberty blockers are also given to female gymnasts if they're thought to have the talent to go to the Olympics.

Morrissey is annoying because of his crazy vegetarianism, and that he doesn’t show up for shows. There are articles about how many shows he's canceled (over 350). I had tickets to see him one year when he was touring, and the show was rescheduled three times before finally being canceled- and this was years before covid.

He's very talented, but he's always been annoying.

Those people are clearly exceptions to the rule. But let’s be clear: these days, any man who is under 6’ tall is considered to be short. At my high school graduation (just a few years ago), I looked around and suddenly noticed the plethora of tall guys and tall girls. I am taller than the average woman and I saw countless girls who were close to or at 6 feet tall. And there were so many guys who were well over 6’ tall that I almost couldn’t believe my eyes.
