I imagine most Kiwis are former or current 4chan users so the trends that came from there are often found here. A lot of older weebs and people who just want to laugh at the world probably became dejected with 4chan becoming unironically political and LARPing as revolutionaries because they watched a movie that paints Guy Fawkes as a guy who was protesting against government....He was actually trying to put a Catholic monarch back on the throne because he was a religious extremist who also fought in Spain against Protestants. The result was people wearing those stupid masks making videos about how they will take down Scientology, governments of the world, corporations, banks and celebs without achieving much except annoying the people they claim to be defending by taking down the PSN.

Since people left to find pastures anew they eventually landed here which was sort of like old 4chan and other forums they used way back they probably bought their humor and references with them, not that it's stopping the politispergs moving here to ruin everything desu.
