Why are they called content creators...

The "content" you are watching is them reacting to a game essentially and watching how they play it. They create the video of that content thus they are content creators. Not that its particularly good content unless the person is entertaining.

"content creator" is just corporate speak like "influencer" and "reply to this post or your mother will die in her sleep tonight".

Generally most 'content creators' just take someone else's hard work -- be it a game, movie, tv show, music, what-have-you, and they commentate on it or otherwise are just orbit around it in some way (play the game, review the music, etc. etc.) You take that away and what do they got?

And they LOVE to talk about how they are 'creating content' when that's all it is. Great people. Modern day parasites, actually. But they get rewarded bigtime in donations from their viewers, patreon, whatever, raking in many thousands a month with ease. So they will happily keep at it.

They don't even do that now. "Content creators" these days just sit there re-broadcasting anime while snacking, if they even bother to rock up on their own stream at all.

Pretty soon we'll long for the days where "content creators" actually talked or played video games while they were lazing around waiting for superchats.

Because that's the bare fucking maximum of a job description that could apply to them. They upload video files onto the internet. They should just be called video uploaders, but we live in a society and millionaire streamers are oppressed now because they can't openly violate copyright law in front of an audience of thousands.
"reply to this post or your mother will die in her sleep tonight".
Goddamnit. Not here, too.
