In the case of MTF troons, they aren't really ever prepared for the upkeep that's required to "pass". Women put a lot of time into their appearances. Make up and hair take time. Getting good at it also takes practice. They don't want to put in that effort. And so, predictably, they look like dudes playing with their mom's makeup.

They often have the fashion sense of middle aged moms too.

Seriously, there are traps so hot that they make average chicks look ugly by comparison. Unless you saw the dick you wouldn't even know.

Iirc the majority of gender dysphoric people have multiple mental illnesses.
Poor personal hygiene is comorbid with many mental illnesses, including dental hygiene. So is addiction (binge eating or drinking ruin your appearance). Trooning out naturally coincides with many appearance ruining problems.

The male body and facial bone structure is nearly impossible to feminize as an adult. Troons are like the slobs of the trans community so they look that much worse because there is no effort put in. Because they aren't really troons, they are mentally ill people with a packet of pills, a few wigs, and some tumblr blogs.

There are examples of people that went through the hundreds of hours of surgery and cosmetic procedures just to pass. But you could probably count them on one hand. And thats probably getting closer to the actual RL number of people with actual body dismorphia.

The traps don’t pass either. Do they make more effort? Yes they do. They’re far more agreeable. But they’re still men, and it’s obvious. They can get some good camera angles but within a moment of being in their presence live you can tell. I have seen men be seemingly unaware of lady it’s in Thailand and it struck me as odd at the time that the men were more easily fooled than the women.
I’ve thought about it more over th years and I wonder if it’s instinctual. I think women seem to be able to tell better.
Anyway troons are ugly because autism. They do not ‘get’ the social feedback clues that tell them people are looking at them with horror. The ones who do understand, get off on it. they are ugly because they are men. simple as.
men are not ugly, but men trying to be women are ugly. men do not have appealing face or body structures for what we deem appealing in a female, in fact many of their natural qualities are what women break a sweat editing out of their pictures. wide shoulders, narrow hips, potruding forehead, strong jaw, hooded and/or downturned eyes, etc etc. these things could be attractive on a male, but on a woman nope.

furthermore, troons lack self awareness. be it from their fetish, their ego, their mental illness, whatever it is, they simply do not see what the world sees or they outright refuse to acknowledge it. men also have very low standards when it comes to what they would stick their dick in, so they see their homely face in the mirror and think "would you fuck me? I'd fuck me."
like I mentioned above, I think a lot of "traps" and femboys are hiding behind blinding lights and filters, but I think part of what makes them more desirable (to fucking losers) is that they are aware they are men and are not seeking validation for the delusion. They ARE seeking validation though, don't get me wrong, but just for their absent father and lust for attention. it's different, but not by a lot.

and finally, it's because troons have the disadvantage of never suffering through female puberty. not just for the biological reasons, I mean the social and superficial ones. girls spend a good chunk of their youth trying to "figure shit out". these men have spent all their years watching porn and then catching a social contagion that told them TAKE DRUGS AND PUT ON YOUR MOM'S DRESS! YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL!

and this is mostly going to be towards TIMs because unpassing as as a lot of TIFs are, a man with a feminine face can still be considered attractive. A woman with a manly face, cannot.
