Why are webp files so gay?

They break on kiwifarms, a lot of programs don't know how to deal with them despite it being a thing since 2010 and microsoft is too gay to add support for it to their photo app

Even jpeg despite turning your images into garbled ass at least opens in most image programs

Who's the person that made this file format? I want to email them to call them a nigger

Fuck webp and fuck cloudflare or browsers or whatever the fuck changes your pngs or jpgs to fucking webp I hope whoever wrote the lines of code that enabled that shit, the mother fuckers who debugged it and the assholes who compiled it get raped and stabbed by niggers alongside the assholes that invented the invisible page covering popup ad shit that covers the screen then when you click anywhere it opens a fuck ton of popups. Fuck those sacks of garbage shit.

There's so much gay stupid retard code out there like that webp shit, I have no idea why some faggot was given a chance to write some stupid line of code that says 'hay I see ur file but imma change it for no real reason' in some shitty spaghetti code shit line of code. Fuck them and fuck anyone with their zoomer-ass idea of an idea of an idea ontop of 20 other people's ideas, fuck them and how they want to change shit that works fine into shit that doesn't work fine.

I've tried doing that for jpgs but it ends up corrupting the image but I can't say I've tried it with pngs.
I've never tried with .jpg files, good to know that it doesn't work in that way then.
In general it's an annoyance though and the format needs to be wiped off the face of the internet.

What I do instead is screencap the image you want with snipping tool. (Unless it's a PNG)
I only have to do that (with Screenshot since I'm using Linux) on KF if the image isn't clickable (i.e. click image, gives option to zoom/download/etc...), because right-click saving it doesn't work (file shows up "corrupted", i'm assuming it's because of the image proxy thats set on this site).

I just begrudgingly save the webp, open it up on GIMP, and just re-save it as a png

Change the "Save as Type: WebP Image" to "All Files (*.*)" & also retype the extension as jpeg & it'll work.

webp to itled.jpg

Just renaming the file's extension to .jpeg won't work on it's own.
