Why can't I sharpen pencils without them breaking?

Every time I try to sharpen a pencil, it ends up breaking. I bought this sketch set and ended up sharpening one of them to the point that half of it was gone because the lead kept breaking. Is there a trick to it? Ever since my school days, I've never been able to sharpen them right, it's why I prefer mechanical pencils but I've lost all the lead bits for mine.

If it's such a big issue, it might be worth getting an electric sharpener. If retards in schools can use them, so can you.

You can try changing the sharpeners, although sometimes the pencils themselves are of shit quality or already broken, but I have no clue what you bought or what condition is in. Could also be if you try to sharpen them way too much, this may be another factor.

If you want to be safe, you may sharpen them with a blade (like they've told you above) and forget about everything. Well, be careful to not cut yourself.
