In Europe, blackface is a tradition that is older than christianity. They used to believe that is what the dead look like. Similarly whiteface is a tradition in some african cultures, most easily seen in the yoriba faith. They have superstition that white is lucky, will often wear just white clothes, and cover themselves in chalk in ceremonies.
The reason both these things exist is because they're really lowtech cheap ways of masquerade. For easily attainable resources, you can look starkly different. And that's fun.
Both of these things existed prior to frequent contact between sub saharan africans and europeans.
So even if you take out the racial angle completely and look at the underlaying mechanics, it's fun.
Now when you add the racial mechanics becomes more fun, not less. After all, whether it's a wigger emulating black culture earnestly or an uncle tom with an earnest wish to be white, or when it's used to lampoon like the movie white chicks or make fun of what you see rappers mumblerap on tv, it is not only somewhat taboo, but it allows you to play something you're not.
It should be aninternational holiday, not just a Dutch one.
