I fucking hate that movie now because of this. Electrolytes are necessary for biological function. You need them to live. When you fast, you have to supplement electrolytes, because they're more important than food. A large amount of cravings and hunger and overeating are just the body's attempt to address electrolyte depletion. A bunch of common minor maladies are simply symptoms of electrolyte depletion. But ever since that fucking movie, everybody thinks they're a meme substance for retards and any time you try to talk about them their brains shut down while they giggle and clap like a dumb fucking seal at the satisfaction of regurgitating a movie line from twenty years ago.
