Why do boomers write like that?

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
every sentence... needs three or four..... sets of ellipsis.... and maybe two question marks??,,. are they retarded??? ...
Real-life conversations have a lot of abrupt pauses like this. Boomers are just carrying rules of real life over into Internet communication. This is how I know you're an Internet-only weirdo who never talks to anyone irl.

The real tell is the double space after punctuation. (Please imagine double spaces between these sentence because Xenforo automatically cuts it down to one space.) These retards do this because they learned how to type on a typewriter.

Oh...You were finished?? Well allow me to retort...
Post your contact info so we can sue you for libel.

Oh, what? You can’t do that? Why not? I’m sure you have ample proof to back your ridiculously malicious and false accusations of misogyny, alleged acts of racism, legal charges of pedophilia, and the rest of your bullshit buzz-words that are used by millennials like you, who with no conscience whatsoever throw around those once very powerful words for the sole purpose of gaining the upper hand and public support of your constituents whenever you get involved in an altercation. Problem is, most people have a hard time believing anonymous users on a site known for using these tactics in an attempt to damage reputations and interfere with ones right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness (sound vaguely familiar?)

Because.... and I know you might find this weird... stuff like this exists in IRL conversations.

You don't just talk in a very monotone way without any pauses or anything because that is very annoying and even difficult to understand and when you translate that into text it just comes across as a bunch of random words one after another so much so that you can't tell where one thought begins and another one ends so you end up having to read it several times to fully understand it and it creates a lot of unnecessary obstacles when the point of language is communication and you communicate more easily when there is proper structure to the things you're saying or writing so your issue with older people writing in this fashion might be just you trying to justify the lack of structure in the way you personally speak and frankly I think that is a you problem and not the problem of those who put actual effort into communicating with others.

Despite not being a Boomer and never using a typewriter, I was taught the double space between sentences and was too goddamn old to stop doing it by the time I realized it wasn't commonly used.

Separating sentences into readable chunks is what every other type of punctuation and spacing is for, you fucking retard. The idea that you either use constant pointless ellipses or undifferentiated walls of text is the stupidest assertion I've ever read.

It's not pointless when you're recreating something that is common in speech.
Should I also denote *breath* where I *lip smack* make any other kind of *momentary glance across the room* gesture during speech to create a greater sense of conversational verisimilitude? Because clearly *throat clear* replicating interpersonal interaction in every last *blink* detail is the goal of writing.

There is a point at which the presentation becomes an obstacle in communication.
You have to moderate, just like with everything in life.

That's how I was taught to write professionally in my technical writing course. Not all punctuation just periods. This was in relatively modern times on a computer not a typewriter. I don't do it but it is a thing that can be expected depending on formatting guidelines for some things. I'm pretty sure it was an APA guideline still when I learned it.

Double space after punctuation looks good and readable. Individual sentences are easily separable from each other. This is just like zoomniggers complaining about "Reddit spaces".
