Why do I feel that atheists, in general, aren't very bright? When I hear them speak, their words often don’t seem to make sense. Do atheism make you retarded?

They are the dominant cultural force. Nowadays dumb Christians are smart enough to shut up and dumb atheists think they’re smart enough to speak up.Why do I feel that atheists, in general, aren't very bright? I mean. I ain't the one claiming a 13 year old girl got knocked up by God, an Arab epileptic flew to Jerusalem on a horse or that God feels an intense urge to roast you for all eternity if you touch your pee pee.
You clearly have a very different working definition of reasonable to me.
Ah, now I see the issueDid you get assmad that atheists interrupted your Christian circlejerk thread? Is that why you're trying to create another one?
It's the more reasoned approach. Truth be told their real problem is almost certainly with the Old Testament vs. other religious beliefs because so much of the OT is just so savage and ignorant. Even by the standards of classical antiquity it was the work of barbarians, which is why Marcion rejected it in its entirety.Intelligent atheists realise there is virtue in spirituality even if they don't share those beliefs, and they realise there is no point in trying to disrupt your worldview and make an enemy over it. You don't hear of them for those reasons, they may even claim to be agnostic just to seem less confrontational.
If you want to debate the topic I'm willing, but @Brightstar777 did not ask any of his religion-related questions in good faith and I'm just answering in kind.Ah, now I see the issue
I guess there's context I'm missing, was just trying to be funny. Well hopefully you guys find an understanding eventually. If you want to debate the topic I'm willing, but @Brightstar777 did not ask any of his religion-related questions in good faith and I'm just answering in kind.
There is a lot of history to the Bible itself that admittedly I think it's stricter adherants willingly overlook. Translated and reviewed literally God knows how many times. It's the more reasoned approach. All of the useful pieces like the wisdom books/proverbs are just copied from the broader wisdom traditions of the Middle East. Same with the flood narrative being a copy of Mesopotamian stories.
One thing I will say in its defense is they're not really openly condoned, more just stated as facts. Another problem is there are other books referred to early in the OT that have been lost. Nobody has any idea what they contained or whether or not it contradicts anything in later books. There is a lot of history to the Bible itself that admittedly I think it's stricter adherants willingly overlook.
