Think of it on a smaller scale and it's obvious why people don't brag about it. If you killed a person, regardless of what your motive was, would you seriously make it one of your defining characteristics? Some neo-Nazis do say the holocaust happened and that they are proud of it.

It's definitely weird. The ancient Israelites claimed they destroyed the Amalekites in the Bible. God even punished Saul because he spared a few Amalekites like their king and even their animals. Ancient Israelites also committed ethnic cleansing on genocide on several other Canaanite nations because God ordered their destruction for their wickedness. The Bible also praises the destruction of other ethnic groups like the Philistines since God punishes them with death.

In actual history, genocide was praised. Native American oral history praises how their ancestors massacred enemy villages and chased them from the land. Mass murdering pagans in Europe was considered a good thing. The Crusades were deemed a good thing, and so was the mass abductions, forced conversions, etc. done by the Ottoman Empire. The Qing Dynasty wiped out about 70-80% of Dzungars (offbrand Mongols) in the late 18th century and proudly wrote down in their records that they mass murdered them. American colonists never tried to hide or downplay they killed a fuckton of Indians and drove them off their land.

Kind of. The original Holocaust deniers/"revisionists" were the Socialist Reich Party in Germany, founded by mid-level Nazi officials in the late 40s. Incidentally they were funded by the Soviet Union so Stalin and the USSR could claim the West were pro-Nazi. The other big source comes from George Lincoln Rockwell's American Nazi Party, and his entire org was thoroughly infiltrated and promoted by the FBI since cartoon Nazis like Rockwell's crew were a great way to distract people from the real issue in the early 60s that there was a lot of problems with the civil rights movement and Civil Rights Act.
