Because communist and leftist hide behind freedom of speech when it's convenient and they don't have political power
A friend of mine who's a reactionary believes in freedom of speech explained it like this leftist have no right to hide behind freedom of speech
Because they fundamentally don't believe in it and that there is no actual contradiction in saying communist and left his have no freedom of speech rights because fundamentally they don't actually morally believe in them


But to the original question the left believes in Praxis which is the narrative matters more than the fundamental moral principles that they espouse

You will never, ever find a communist that will seriously and honestly argue with you. They will character assassinate, sabotage you, smear you, anything except an actual intellectual confrontation. Only rarely on the more vanilla socialist side will you find the occasional rogue socialists that doesn't really follow the general leftist culture and they may discuss things with you.
