Why do the window lickers get to influence public opinion as much as they do?

Should I become a misanthrope because only the most exceptional members of society tend to get noticed on the theater of public opinion?
The question is whether you want to influence others to change.

If you have a poll and you can rate a movie 1-10, you might make the most impassioned comment to vote 6, but your vote will have less effect on the overall grade than people voting 1 or 10 and likewise, people want to read the 1 and 10 to get a sense why the movie is hated and why it is loved.

The virtue of moderation does not extend to the realm of opinionmaking.

I mean, if you have a centrist opinion on a subject, what can you really preach besides complacancy?

They're not as influential as you think. They're just made really loud by the MSM, who use them as unintentional agent provocateurs to make opposition to the mainstream (on the right but also the left) seem insane and irrational. It's about setting up a narrative of crazy radicals vs the reasonable centrist establishment. The window lickers are kept far away from the real corridors of power.

"Yeah, things suck, but you know who else wants them to change? Sharia communist thugs/literally hitler! You're not one of them, are you? Better stick with us, the adults in the room."

You have a political system designed to encourage you to appeal to as many people as you can. Most people are stupid. Therefore, you have a political system designed to encourage you to appeal to the stupid.

Because you're soooo different from all the other stupid apes who think they're the smartest ape on the ball of dirt...

I may or may not be smarter than most people, but I'm pretty confident that most people are stupid.

Stupid? I doubt most people are stupid. Misinformed is probably the more correct word to use, and also most people are heavily influenced by the people around them, but that does not automatically equate to stupidity.

If they weren't stupid they wouldn't allow themselves to be misinformed so badly and manipulated by people around them.
