Why Does Language Drift Happen?

yeah, this I do not get. Gendering objects is ridiculous to me.

I agree this is a bit pointless and very strange.

But English did it too. Old English, spoken around a thousand years ago, had a gender system like ancient Latin and Greek, or modern German and Russian. The gendered personal pronouns 'he, she, it' are the only remnant of this.

If any, English is 'wrong' by not having gendered nouns anymore.
