why don't spaniards just remove the letter h from their language?

As someone who took Spanish classes for two years I think the letter should stay. On my part I like having it for etymological reasons. I like how the H's in words like "hoja" and "hija" correspond to the F's in Portuguese "folha" and "filha" and French "feuille" and "fille". Then you have the conjugations of "oler" which can essentially negate my case.

Practically the same, but I believe when that happens it's called "hache aspirada".
