Why even bank?

You don't store money in your biggest monthly debt source, dummy. That's just asking for trouble.

Maybe if you had already paid off the financing for it, but that's just a sign it's time to finance a new one.

A coffee can buried in a field was good for everybody going back to the Roman Republic, don't think you're better.

How else are we to give Israel $10 billion? Your money is safe with me, goy!

Because "unbanking" is a scam. Look no further than payday loan companies and crypto bros to see what I mean.

Don't get me wrong, our current system is far from perfect, or even far from good. But I'll take Noseberg Bank over FTX or Celsius Network any day.
I don't see how a mattress can't hold my money better and more securely.
bury your money in the backyard
Thanks, now I know where it is, and it's just a matter of time until your shit becomes mine.

And since your mattress and backyard don't have FDIC coverage, you'll have no recourse once I've spent it all.

Come and collect.

Yeah, it's a scam, if all you do it take your money from the big, old scam and give it to the new money scammers. Why are you acting like that's the only option?
The "big, old scam" is less risky to myself. If there were real, viable alternatives to it, they would have succeeded and overthrown the current system by now.

It's not because I actually *like* the current system, mind you. The banksters should have the narrow ends of their ties adjusted about eight inches. It is just the least-bad system we've come up with so far.

I am not willing to jeopardize my livelihood and everything I've worked for on a spiteful whim. I won't lose money when it's in the bank, barring a Black Swan financial catastrophe.

Plus, closing my account will not hurt Mr. Noseberg one iota. He has a whole damn portfolio of other income sources.

One of my big complaints about financial institutions in general is how they can just hold your money near-indefinitely.

Paypal red flagged a rather large transaction and screwed me out of a decent bit of money for months. I guess they really needed to fund some armed militia in syria.

That sounds like a payment processor problem rather than with the bank itself. Payment processors AFAIK aren't subject to the same regulations.

Banks are required by law to make your money available in a timely manner. At most, they can delay it for like a week if they think something is off, and they have to disclose it when they do. They can't just deny you access to your own money and not explain why.

and they do fuck all to tell you the reason, outsourcing pajeets for customer service, or hold your money for 90 days because fuck you that's why

i've used paypal for years before completely cutting ties with the company because of doing freelance work, unable to change personal information without having to send my utility bills, ID, and my left nutsack. paypal's resolution center is the worst thing to exist since nick bate. i hated getting chargebacked by faggots that didn't like the fact i wanted to set up their entire linux system for $20 and paypal will side with them

i do wanna say i don't mind doing work for other people and most of the time it was fine, but the small minority of people who would chargeback and paypal siding with them despite giving evidence irks me

I'm pretty sure talking to paypal support only delayed things. They weren't only useless, they were accusatory at times. I'm not the type to get mad at customer support but I almost had a stroke dealing with them.

You will lose money when it's in the bank, the minute you fall out of line. My bank account was frozen for not paying a fine. The fine was imposed on me because I didn't wear a mask. Also, a big financial crash is a lot more likely than you may think, and the minute that happens, all your money is gone.

Closing your account will hurt the banksters. What we all do as individuals amounts to something. Why do you think supermarkets are offering more and more plant-based alternatives to meat and animal products? Because a lot of individuals have made a lifestyle change. Even companies that used to produce only animal products are producing plant-based alternatives because they were feeling it in their pockets.

They can't just deny you access to your own money and not explain why.
All this is in theory. We all know that when push comes to shove, they do whatever they want, without repercussions. The law doesn't mean anything to them. I wasn't informed of the reason why my bank account had been frozen, it just happened, and when I went to the ATM, I couldn't withdraw any money, despite there being money in my bank account.
