There has been a heavy push from citizens all over the West for stricter border control and background check for immigrants/refugees.
It seems that every day I read a story about some European country deporting some migrants.
It ain't as easy for them to get in as it used to be.
Also, ISIS is pretty much gone.

I am fairly sure many people have said similar things about how the US will eventually be its own undoing. The USSR had that theory too. All our western decadence, you know? Someone ought to check and see how the USSR is doing these days...
