Why is criticism not allowed anymore?

One thing I've yet to see people mention is the general bias against anything that could be seen as negative by another party, and criticism is adversarial by nature which keys into this feeling a lot. It's not as much that criticism isn't allowed as it's been boiled-down so far that being genuinely critical of something is perceived as "harmful", while being ineffective, pandering, and not addressing a point is the way to avoid offending anyone and thus the preferred method of communication for people.

After reading some of the comments and thinking about it, I could of rephrased the title and op way better and less whiny
I wouldn't say not allowed is the correct wording, more like criticism does feel more looked down upon in recent times compared to back then, whether it be towards someone or something, it feels now it's way more likely to be outright dismissed because of x or y reason or pushed aside even if it is valid and helpful instead of dickish
and many of the posts talking about how hug boxy the internet has become, rise of social media, people's egos being way more bloated, are big contributors to this

There came this assumption, likely from the influx of casuals and secondaries, that to be a fan of something, you can't criticize it. I saw that spreading as formerly insular and naturally gatekept spaces commercialized and became a general commodity. The genuine enthusiasts (read:turboautists who contributed value) in say, tabletop or vidya or boutique diy electronics were accepted for being critical because everyone was a genuine enthusiast and was generally aware of the full scope of the topic. The casuals don't even know what "good" is and don't have the frame of reference to make an informed opinion.

We went from a culture where if you liked X type of game, you probably played all 7 of them that fit the bill, to casuals who have only played the most commercial thing and are proud of it. That's just one example of the kind of thing I'm talking about.

Social media made every idiot think their dumbass opinions and critiques are needed. Truth is nobody gives a fuck what you think and it sounds like you're upset for not being coddled

Because "everyone's a critic" and consequently everyone thinks going off about something in a mean, snarky tone is edgy. The forced empathy and positivity is just momentary clapback. Neither end is sincere.

I think is because we have move so forward into technology and information we are living in an age of sudo information. We feel horrible about ourselves one way or another, and sometimes people refuse to change the way they live to better their mental and physical health. We look for an enemy instead, to cope because they the ones that are right and not the other way around. When someone says something they don't like they defensive and do not want to loose control. I seen both in the real world with DEI standards with their SJW students in my college class ruled and bullied people over something they don't agree with, and the internet phase where people cancel you left and right for not agreeing with someone, associated with somebody. It was high school drama shit that is disgusting given the context on what these communities would do to each other. The reason why in my opinion is power, Niccolò Machiavelli wrote that "the ends justified the means" from what I have seen with commentators from art communities, slop content, horror content, or any content in general its all the same. People will throw people underneath the bus if it makes them look good in face. No matter how much it makes them look like a retard.
