Why is DeviantArt unironically better than most modern "art"?

Do you have examples of good or technically excellent modern art?
I would say anything by Peter Draws on youtube is, while maybe not technically excellent (or maybe it is, I'm not an expert on technical quality), at least very appealing and neat looking abstract art. I'm not sure if I would call it "modern art" really, that's a category reserved for gags like "artist's shit".

Finding a handful of exceptions does not disprove my point, especially when I said "most" and not "all" jews.
Let's not get too far here and imply that you had made a valuable and well-proven point to begin with.

Regardless what you think about dA's vocal majority these days, the silent minority can actually fucking draw. Hell, as much as I hate to say it, even the fetishists have a better understanding as to how shit's supposed to work opposed to those who attend art schools these days.

Modern art is something anyone can do. draw a dot, splash some paint (or bodily fluids, bonus points if you do both) around and viola, pretentiousness on a canvas.

Here's the thing:
DeviantArt IS modern art. All this nonsense you see in art galleries, that's trash that nobody cares about and nobody will remember.
Modern art is movies, electronic music, graffiti, street dance, internet videos, video games, that kind of stuff.
The so-called modern art galleries are just places where upper class snobs can go and pretend to be enlightened and above the masses.
The "art" pieces are also a form of currency to them. Buy it now, wait 2 years and hopefully sell at a higher price.

I'm not convinced modern art exists.

As in, I think it's not really a specific thing, just something people imagine as a sort of strawmen of whatever art they don't like. There's lots of experimentalist stuff that falls within the family of modern art that has an obvious degree of artistry. Let's look at some examples.

I don't know what shit like Piss Christ and that painting of a red line count as, genre-wise, but that's not synonymous with "modern art" in a general sense.

It goes back to the old saying: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Me personally, most forms of conventional art and/or writing is head and shoulders better than whatever crap gets cooked up on DA. However, if you're like me, and also consider comedy to be an art form, than DA wins out. I can't really go to an art gallery or read a well-written novel these days and get any yucks, but DA is a online factory of laughs.

Grapes of Wrath isn't a really funny read, but a fan fiction where the California Raisins gang bang the Chiquita Banana woman is.

Salvadore Dali made some pretty awesome art, but there's no laughs. What I can laugh at is someone's crude, poorly drawn degenerate picture of Donkey Kong giving an old fashioned to a Charizard.

Its the word "Modern" in modern art confuses the fuck out of people and isnt the same as contemporary art. The age of modernity was a period in human history that started around the 1700s after the age of enlightenment, which influenced art, literature and philosophy right up until the early-mid 20th century.
The bulk of the abstract, seemingly low effort modern art that people think of now when they hear the term comes from a 100 yearish period starting in the mid 1800s. The "good" modern art was all made by actual artists who knew the classical rules of art and decided to break them for whatever reason kinda like jazz. This led to a lot of "well... im not a fan but the artist seems to know what hes talking about, so therefore this must be valid as art too" and then came the insane picassolike pricetags for low effort works which creates a wonderful environment for money laundering.

modern art is pretty much a genre from a specific time, invented so real artists could break rules and experiment. If an artists fine art skills are lacking, then their modern art skills are basically meaningless, because they dont know how or why they are breaking rules. DA has a lot of different artstyles so your question reads kinda like "why does youtube unironically have better music than belgian free jazz from the 1960s."
