Why Is It So Hard to Imagine Something Better Than Capitalism?

Capitalism is harsh. It's not pure human nature actually but the ugly side of it.

It's an ugly system. No question. My grandfather lived in the Soviet Union and they lived fine over there but simply. It wasn't anything like what we're told but it wasn't exceptional living by any means. People had the basics. It's not like the west where you have the chance to advance.

But here is the thing. Socialism in any country will never return. Greed won and it won't be best again (no "new deal" ever again). People have to accept this.

Despite the ugliness of the system that we currently live under and it's unfairness we still have the option of creativity. The job market may be shit and post secondary education is often unaffordable but there are still tricks you can use to to get around these things and carve out a better life for your self.

One of the first things is to never live in a high cost state or in my case province. Larger cities are completely unaffordable and you will by brutalized by the cost of living and greedy landlords. Research a low cost mid sized city of your choosing. There are certain jobs you get that pay well that don't require significant education. Real estate agent, certain sales agent positions and even becoming a police officer (in Canada it does not require a college degree, not are about the U.S).

You have to also understand the nature of the system. It is brutal. You will starve and die without employment .. period. Those are the facts. No one will want to save you either because many people are happy being assholes. That's just the reality and it's a hard pill to swallow and no it is not fair. But don't let it scare you either. Understand that though the system is difficult to navigate you still have your freedom to choose a path to exist within it.
