Obesity is more common now than it has been at any other point in the history of humanity, for a few reasons. If you dislike a person, including for political disagreements, you'll be more likely to nitpick and hyper-focus on other aspects of their character, including weight and appearance. I live in the Southeastern U.S. There are tons of large people here who sport Thin Blue Line caps, wear biker jackets with confederate flags sewn to the back, or wave Gadsden flags on their properties. But, if you agree with any of those people and otherwise hold a positive opinion of them, you'll be less likely to notice or care.
