Why is Morrowind so difficult to run properly? (Alt title: Why can't I get what I want?)

I'm pissed as all hell because I want to play a good game but this stupid fossil that it is has no proper FOV commands or settings. I do have MGE but I have the graphical settings turned off because it gets rid of the old water. Because we can't have nice things, one of the graphical settings that gets disabled is FOV. Now, some people might be able to handle low FOV. I'm not one of those people. Furthermore, people think you're a "madman" for wanting the water to look like how it did on release because God forbid we actually want to preserve things. There's also one of those stupid FPS optimizers available that you have to have running in the background like a damn Dialysis machine. You would think someone in the history of now would think "hey maybe we should have a way to change such basic things without a secondary EXE!" but I guess not. Is it so hard to not have such a basic function tied to a secondary EXE or GUI???

So these are my options
1. Bite the bullet and play with MGE stuff that disregards Vanilla graphics but gives me proper FOV
2. Play it without MGE and have vomit-inducing FOV
3. Play it with the FPS optimizer nicotine patch that has to be running 24/7 in the background
4. The perfect option that has all of the positives with none of the negatives (we are looking for this one) [may or may not exist]

Anyways feel free to call me autistic for sperging about a 23 year old video game.

OpenMW was made to specifically solve this problem.
Before you complain about that though:

Now try playing Daggerfall through DOSbox. With headphones.
Supposedly, this glitch doesn't exist outside of DOSbox. Now for the yuck loop.
Oh yeah, DOSbox Daggerfall glitches, like the void claiming enemies and Daggerfall talking to you through sound buffer problems, are quite fun and part of the charm. But if you are a sissy faggot you can of course simply play the Unity remake that doesn't have those quirks.
In any case, OP is obviously a retard.

At this point I might switch to it over the original engine, the idea was I just wanted the original engine to be as pure as possible.

lol it’s not that unintuitive to get into if you’re not a complete tard.

Imagine complaining that a game made in 2002 has dated graphics! The horror!
I know my stuff when it comes to getting old games to run, however people also usually have things like this already fixed. Morrowind is just an odd exception for me, I suppose I could learn modding for CS so I can get it run my way. Beggars can't be choosers I guess.

Also, I know the graphics are dated. That's the whole point of my post. I WANT the game to look dated.

Bros gonna be spamswinging the iron dagger at mudcrabs, I just fucking know it.
Past few times I tried playing I went full mage or full archer. Terrible idea for someone like me since I had no idea what I was doing and the spell system was not very intuitive for me. As much as I don't really want to go with the generic sword build it's going to be the most simple to understand so I'll have to bite the bullet.

If want a no-brainer build.. just roll an Orc and spam berserk. With Alchemy exploits, you can break the game with a mage. And get one of those enchanted daedric weapons from the Khajiit in Balmora.
I would like to have to engage with the complexity of the game to an extent. Worse comes to worse though I'll take up our advice.

I'd also like to avoid exploits to an extent. I know very little about TES or Morrowind so I'll avoid them probably because I don't know they exist rather than abstaining from them. However I know Morrowind doesn't like to play fair so I'll defend myself as need be.

Make sure to use the Release Candidate then. 0.49 changed a lot of stuff to be more accurate to the original engine, including combat which now matches vanilla in that attacks are calculated as soon as the attack animation starts. OpenMW used to calculate it on the animation hit point instead meaning you could dodge. There still isn't a remake of the dx8 pixel water though, its hard coded fixed function and nobody has figured out how it works, its why it wont work in MGE either, it ports it over to DX9 and takes over rendering

-> Wants to play 20+ year old game
-> Can't handle low FOV
-> Has a simple program that runs in the background and will do the job but hates having 2 programs running(probably has 40 tabs open in Chrome right now)
-> Has another program that enables FOV settings but hates it because it changes the water
-> Seethes that he can't play said 20+ year old game at 140 FOV but refuses to accept a solution because he wants to "preserve the game" by keeping fucking 2002 water graphics intact

Nigger this 100% a you problem, I didn:t want to assume your gender but are you by chance a true and honest woman?

This. I'm confused what the problem is. Either play the vanilla game without tools or use the updated engine or available tools. Those are pretty much the options.

This is dumb and gay. Go buy a computer from 2002 and install it on that with the original CDs then and plug it into a bulky CRT monitor. Or just shut the fuck up and install openMW or use the FOV tools.
