What end of the spectrum is he supposed to be on? If he is lower functioning, then it was bound to happen. But if he is higher functioning on the spectrum then you need to have that behavior medically addressed. People on the higher end of the spectrum typically don't do that, and if this was a sudden change in behavior you need to start looking into drastic measures towards getting him some help.

Edit: MAKE SURE HE GETS HELP REGARDLESS. HUMANS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE INNATELY REPULSED BY FECES DUE TO THE BRAIN WARNING YOU THAT IT IS DANGEROUS. IF HE DOESNT SEE SHIT AS DANGEROUS HE NEEDS HELP
