Why does it seem like there are no normal people in the cultural war? Is it because they're too busy living their lives? For example, the LGBTQ+ movement is mostly dominated by the fringe outcast. Likewise, the right also have their subset of nerds that would be completely disregarded in high school. Then you have the wild cards who tend to be the biggest whores or edgy leftist who turn into the most puritanically devout. Why is that the socially maladjusted have the biggest say when it comes to the direction of the culture?

People hate normies or successful people, but one thing I do admire about those types is that they're relatively harmless.

To be terminally online you necessarily have to be socially maladjusted with way too much free time. Ergo, the loudest people on social media also tend to have the most idiotic opinions, yet because they're so overrepresented in the speech posted on social media they convince the normie majority that their retarded beliefs are somehow popular.

The solution is to tell these people to shut the fuck up and touch grass.

The way I see it, the more unhinged a person is, the more likely they're going to fling their ideas around on social media for everyone to see, and social media like twitter seems to be where this stuff happens the most. The average person either doesn't care or can't be bothered to complain because it's not a big deal to them, but to crazy people, it takes up 100% of their life, so to them, they have to scream as loud as they can. That just means the most well-known opinions on a topic are either those that are basic common knowledge or the most unhinged shit imaginable, and generally the insane stuff IS common knowledge thanks to how social media works and just how often these people post about it.

I don’t think that it’s just nerds. I’ve seen popular people pushing shitty movements or being allies to people in such movements.

You're asking the wrong question. You should be asking "Who is weaponizing and propping up these outcasts and activist movements." These neurotic outcasts would just be homeless druggies without support and influence.

The average person has little to no independent thought and can be easily manipulated by simplistic advertisements. It's not that insane lunatics with too much time create movements. They're just the most likely candidate to fight a culture war that would seem pointless to any normal person, absent of propaganda.

I.e. average people are followers. It takes an obsessive weirdo to try reshaping society.

Nepotism and brown nosing hard enough to get those positions of normalfag influence. See the SFWA thread for the perfect example.

Much of SJWism starts in academia and big city social networks. Not necessarily what you would think of as nerds. It just has become especially predominant in nerd circles because they are particularly susceptible to it Firstly its a its a victimcentric/underdog philosophy which appeals to nerds for obvious reasons. Secondly nerds are easy to bully. They used to be bullied by jocks, and now they are bullied by sjws into doing what they want. Thirdly sjwism appeals especially to the growing demographic of nerd women. It appeals to the desires and thought processes of the stereotypical nerd woman in so many ways. The victim mentality, the rage and being passed over for more conventionally attractive women, the savior complex etc etc etc.

Now you are wrong that there are 'no normal people' in the culture wars. Plenty of seemingly 'normal' people post pride flags and pronouns because lets face it most people are sheep. But this stuff does tend to be more prevalent among nerds

I'm not sure what you are talking about. I've seen a lot more star wars and comic book conventions with pride flags that pepe flags. Maybe its true that the more 'nerdy' right has the time to post conservative video essays but on the whole nerd culture is dominated by leftists.
