Why is the word "boring" a go-to leftist insult?

Because its neutral. I can insult you as gay, because your thread is gay. Lefties cant do that bc of political correctness.
Given everything can be construed as "microaggression", the word "boring" can easily be turned problematic:

"You think what I say is 'boring', but It Is Not My Job To Entertain You. You think activism is all fun and games, because you haven't checked your privilege. Marginalized folx -- like me -- don't have the luxury to choose a less 'boring' activity, because activism is literally a matter of LIFE AND DEATH for us! Also, by calling me 'boring', you are implying I am insensitive to the emotional needs of my audience, in other words, you are accusing me of lacking the human quality of empathy. I find your accusation extremely dehumanizing and I demand an apology!!!"

You are right, and I thought about it while I wrote it. Then I thought of something that cannot be understood as microaggression, and then I started drinking heavily. Just not possible to not insult at least one group of people/otherkins/etc

We all know how backwards lefties are.
If they call racists "boring", is it okay for me to say the local librarian is a Nazi?

It is always fascinates me how some statements you can randomly stumble across, end up so hilarious because of relevance they have to a current situation.

leftist a bit of a vague shit term but genrally it boils down to the same reason people put a lol at the end of bairly coherant rants, they're trying to conceal their actual emotion .

"lol I'm totally not mad but trump is boring."

Either because they can't come up a better insult without offending someone or they think being board is the worst feeling and need to do something meaningful.

Actual facts are boring. Simple as that.

The woke, false facts aren't to them.

Projection, my dear boy. They don’t want to admit they’ve turned into the fun police.

They use the term "boring" because it's what the Mean Girls called hard subjects in high school so as to avoid having to admit that maybe they were too dumb for it. And if you liked that subject or were good at it, you were "boring" too.

Learning is boring. Thinking is boring. And if you hold opinions born of either, you're boring, too.

They get their news from late night shows so entertainment value probably plays a role in deciding what counts as truth.

They think boredom is one of the worst feelings they can have. Boredom might lead to introspection and that's even more painful to them than being bored.

You'll notice that they have a need to fill their lives with the latest pop dreck. They keep music or Netflix playing in the background, constantly on their laptop or phone reading or opining about something that has little to no real world impact.

It's only natural they would use boring as an insult because they abhor boredom because of what it leads to and they don't have the ability to keep themselves entertained naturally.

That's my take on it.

I think you're both spot on.

These people have been trained by 20 years of Jon Stewart and related "comedy news" to believe that they are entitled to be entertained when they are informed, or else it's not worth their time. When you combine that with a culture of standup "comedy" that has been about nothing but proselytizing politics for at least as long if not longer, it becomes inextricable circular logic in their heads that if you find something entertaining it must be correct, if something sounds correct it must be entertaining, and anything that is not always both can never be either.

They like calling people “uneducated” and “go read a book” too

Two theories:

1. They're taking "Don't feed the trolls" too seriously by trying to express that they're not incredibly pissed off at whatever infuriates them,

2. They think everyone's insecure enough that they'll actually change their behaviors if people tell them that what they're doing isn't interesting.
