Why should autism speak?

Letting autists speak doesn't help them. They should be seen and not heard until they are beaten down like the rest of us. I don't brag to my new girlfriend about how I get off on a bunch of hentai tags, I wait until she's introduced me to her friends and I've successfully tangled myself into her life to the point where she can't immediately dump me without sounding like a schizo. Autists need to learn these things before going out in public with a sonic tee-shirt.

On that note why do people absolutely hate that 'autism speaks' organization? I only see it crop up very occasionally and when it does it's always negative. A cursory glance has them advocating a cure for autism which sounds pretty good to me but then you have the idiots who claim that autism should be left alone just like deaf people should be left deaf. While it's true people should have a choice but you should never let anyone presume what you want on your behalf.

Yeah this shit confuses to perhaps genuinely bothers me. Honestly being autistic, or at least a lot of the things that tend to go with it, looks like, outside of gravely serious physical problems, one of the worst things that you could wind up born as. Even the higher functioning autistics miss out on elements of social connection, one of the fundamental facets of human existence, and the life of lower functioning autists, grunting and thrashing around and flapping their hands, looks like prolonged agony.

If there is a cure for this it could make millions live better lives. Not to mention their caregivers if they have them and society in general which would see fewer trannies, pedos, furries, school shooters, people with weird politics, and many other categories of people that are unpleasant to have in a society. It would be a win-win all around.

That some autists want to be edgelords and claim it is actually a good thing is irrelevant. Their opinions in general are irrelevant. They're autistic.

If autists were not allowed to speak this site would not have any members.

Its not the idea of curing autism that people have issue with but the way they portray autism as being a disease which stigmatises autists.

If I wanted to talk about Sonic the Hedgehog, I'd rather it be an excited 5 year old telling me about this new game he just played and not a 35 year old guy talking about the deep lore.

Aside from the usual reasons of people being salty about "curing" autism... they used to hold that vaccines cause autism. But they eventually publicly apologized and change their position. This was way before the 'rona.

If we cured autism the world would be a lot less funny. Also probably something something direct gene editing something malevolent corporate entities using it to create a slave race yada yada
