Why would God create a world that is not perfect?

If there is hundreds of paths before you but they are all completely perfect would any of them be different from one another, and if so what point would there be in choosing a path at all?
 
Whenever I see people talking about this sort of thing it always baffles me to see individuals dismiss the notion of a deity, or deities simply because horrible shit exists in this world. Disregard any notion of man made religion before considering the following:

1. Who said god must be nice?

2. If there was no suffering there would be no growth, without growth there is no purpose.

3. Without suffering and anguish there would no be value in a heaven, something to strive to create or earn.

4. There could possibly be multiple powerful entities at play that counter balance any benevolent god or loving god. If 5 people are in a room with a lot of power and only one of them cares about you, more likely than not one of the other 4 will harm you regardless of interventions by the first. Just because humans claim one is all powerful does not make it true, and/or said all powerful god could be bound by things that are limiting and diminishing his ability to act upon the world. You just don't know for sure.

5. If you play video games you're no better than any deity you despise since to you, it is a simulation of an existence where things mimic suffering and death but you continue on playing, and in most cases participate in the continuation of death and suffering. Regardless of the fact that it's simulated so "nobody is really hurt" for one reason or another it's still an entity taking delight in watching others live in some form of turmoil and challenges.

6. To tie into point 5, you have no concrete proof of anything beyond your experience. The baby who is given a tumor and dies could very well not truly exist. It's the fact that the human experience is truly an isolated one and while you may find others who go through things you have and may comfort and interact with you, it could all be a simulation, and even if said experience was a simulation much like what you do in video games. You would call said creator and controller of this simulation god.

It does not matter if that creator is a fat sweaty neckbeard in his universe or plane of existence. He could be the lowest of the low like a janitor from Wendy's but that does not change the fact he's YOUR god. And he could find it funny to give your baby a tumor in its brain. This is just a cold hard truth. I'm not going to argue this from anyone's personal theology and I will generally throw my chips into the "Pain is growth" category of viewing things both for my mental well being and just how that personally fits into my experiences in life.

TLDR- It is equally ridiculous to be committed to an atheistic belief structure just because the cosmos is vastly large beyond comprehension and there is suffering. If you wish to make the argument "why worship x" then at least you're being honest about what you do & do not know. Deities do not have to be all powerful, and deities are not all benevolent. We could all just be some giant ant colony being watched from time to time and you would never know unless they directly made such thing clear.

I think I misinterpreted this question at first. It can be correct that God made man in his image but also disagrees with OP on wanting a world without suffering. However, I think God wanted a world without suffering. He tried that by giving man Eden. Man betrayed the Lord and because of that our punishment is to experience ALL of life, including suffering, pain, misery, betrayal. He tried to shield us from suffering/evil but we ate the forbidden fruit and brought it on ourselves.

I think free will is incompatible with a world without suffering or evil. I also think this is why God washed his hands of direct involvement with humans.

I don't believe a lot of the shit in the Bible actually happened. Christians take shit too literally. No, God didn't actually create female humans from the rib of man. He allowed millions of years of evolution rising from the dirt of earth within the sea to make us. Lot of the shit in Bible is metaphoric rather than literal. The only proof we have of Jesus having magical powers is Roman documentation of religious followers following some guy Christus Jesus who was a magician. God killed people for being irredeemably evil. But after Jesus did his thang, God was like aight yall don't gotta ritual sacrifice anymore but please just try to do your best to do right by my rules and you'll be saved forever even if you fuck up here and there.

Pedophiles know their actions are wrong, know they deliberately harm children, and choose to do it anyways. They are irredeemable from the moment they first touch a child. They might live long on this earth but once they die, they will experience eternal suffering.

Sometimes when I play The Sims, I like to just let them go and see what they get up to when left to their own devices, instead of micromanaging their every action and making sure they're always perfectly taken care of and fulfilled.

I think it's similar principle here.

I do the same in Rimworld. Then I get bored and start harvesting organs.
