I've heard it's having a tough time on PC for performance but I'm wondering what other kiwis think of the game. I'm an avid monster hunter fan but I'm not sure if I'm willing to play such a high asking price for essentially an Expansion variant of Monster Hunter.

I'm slightly interested in the overall vibe but something holds me back and makes me reserved about this one.

I haven't played/bought it because I sure wouldn't give money to EA and I don't play games on release anyway because they all are unfinished buggy messes with 10 DLC planned, but if the user reviews are to be trusted, you can pass on this one, at least until they fix stuff.

It's free for 10 hours if you have game pass. I've played about an hour and don't really care for it. it runs like shit and the gameplay is bland. I couldn't find any way to lock on and got annoyed when bosses switched to attack me mid animation in a really janky way.

The monster design is awesome and deserves full credit but the game play is bland and uninteresting. I don't like monster hunter for being too stiff and this is too loose.

The character creator lets you manually place the eyes individually. You can make some great tards. But it has they/them pronoun options despite the character creator being totally neutral in how you combine voice/looks.

What the hell is this, a 70 dollar monster hunter ripoff published by EA? Because that's what Monster Hunter is missing, a way more soulless publisher and a higher price tag.

I don't even fully trust the Monster Hunter franchise after the success of MH World, even that was a little bit easy and casual for my tastes.

I remember playing the original MH on the PS2 as a kid, they wound up gaving out a free strategy guide with copies of the game because they knew there was no way you'd be able to figure out what you were doing through without it. You attacked with the right analogue stick. Good stuff.

I've heard that the gameplay is alright, for a clone, and that it's better than MH in most manners (aside from the game not running on anything).

haven't looked into it but might just be the physical/non-japan publishing. EA also has their origins line which is nothing like their usual cancerous shit.

made by tecmo is probably the bigger issue, just look at the performance.

It looks cool, but Monster Hunter game design is always repetitive, they are like ARPGs but with the RPG elements replaced by tedious crafting.
