Disaster Will Ferrell: ‘If the Trans Community Is a Threat to You, Then It Stems From Not Being Confident or Safe With Yourself’

Will Ferrell spoke to The Independent as part of his press tour for the Netflix documentary “Will & Harper” and was asked to share his opinion on why transphobia exists. He answered: “I think we fear what we don’t know.”

“Will & Harper” centers on the friendship between Ferrell and Harper Steele. The two met in the 1990s during their careers at “Saturday Night Live.” Steele came out as transgender 30 years into their friendship. The documentary, which was bought by Netflix after its premiere at Sundance earlier this year, finds the two comedians on a road trip across America as they rediscover their friendship following Steele’s transition.

“There is hatred out there,” Ferrell told The Independent. “It’s very real and it’s very unsafe for trans people in certain situations. … But I don’t know why trans people are meant to be threatening to me as a cis male. I don’t know why Harper is threatening to me.”

“It’s so strange to me, because Harper is finally… her,” he added. “She’s finally who she was always meant to be. Whether or not you can ultimately wrap your head around that, why would you care if somebody’s happy? Why is that threatening to you? If the trans community is a threat to you, I think it stems from not being confident or safe with yourself.”

Ferrell told Variety at Sundance ahead of the documentary’s premiere that Steele came out as transgender in an email she sent to a handful of friends. “All of us were extremely supportive and expressed love,” he said. “But that sort of opened the questions like, how can we help you? What do you need us to do?”

Ferrell said he had “zero knowledge” about the trans community before Harper came out to him.

“I had met trans people, but I didn’t have anyone personally in my life,” Ferrell said. “So this was all new territory for me, which is why I think this film is so exciting for us to kind of put out there in the world. It’s a chance all of us in the cis community to be able to ask questions and also just to listen and be there as a friend to discuss this journey.”

“Will & Harper” streams Sept. 27 on Netflix.

The trans community isn't a threat to me... it's a threat to women and children's physical and mental health though. Okay, maybe it is also a threat to me in that if I correctly point out the obvious fact that men aren't women they might send me to jail or ruin my life in some other way in many parts of the world. You know... maybe it''s also a threat to me that they'll use a weapon to attack me (any adult male is going to overpower them otherwise) if I don't capitulate to their delusions and they'll probably get away with it despite overwhelming evidence.

You know what, you've convinced me Will Farrell. The trans community is a threat to women, children, men and most of all a just and free society.

So the idea of a teacher secretly taking my kid to get hormone therapy and CPS taking him away because I object to it is just me lacking self confidence.

Fuck Hollywood. This is why piracy is morally correct.
Only time I found Will Ferrell funny is in Zoolander, and it's because he looks like a weirdo, not because he actually is one.

Anyways, piracy is correct regardless because media companies refuse to preserve their entire libraries for public consumption. I don't care if no one else watches Elves or Ishtar or Plan IX from Outer Space, I have the right to choose to watch their old shows and if they don't provide them, piracy is the only option.

Well said, fellow Kiwi. I and my 10 TB of pirated content thank you for taking a principled stance.

He entertained me on Eastbound and Down as not-Rick Flair, but otherwise, correct.

What really pisses me off about these companies is the vaults of past material they sit on, refusing to release. It leaves you looking for shitty Myspleen or youtube rips from old, crusty VHS copies people made themselves, if those even exist. God I hate Hollywood so much, even without their ball-licking tranny love.

Anyway, Will Ferrell deserves gay tranny Jew AIDs.

"I don’t know why trans people are meant to be threatening to me as a cis male. I don’t know why Harper is threatening to me.”
'I don't find dudes in dresses intimidating', says the 6'3" 220lb rich and famous Hollywood actor.

No shit, the ones you should be scared for are your wife and children, or anyone else who can be physically threatened or exploited by your tranny associate.

He's probably not personally intimidated by pedophiles either, that doesn't mean he shouldn't understand why they're an obvious threat... but pedo, tranny, potato potahto.

"Let's unpack this."
  • Yet another article that wouldn't even be in the mainstream media just 10 or 20 years ago.
  • There's that SJW tactic of making up BS motives for "wrongthinkers" again -- "gaslighting" in other words.
  • A "transgender" may not be a threat to an adult, but it's not unheard of for a "transgender" to be a threat to children.
  • Just because a type of people have a trait in common does not mean they're a "community" -- commies fixate on "community" a lot.
  • The "transgender community" tries to push people to play along with their reality-denying delusions, or "cancelling" can happen.

The simple explanation is that he drank the Kool-Aid, but the reality is, he just doesn't understand the core issue at all:

“There is hatred out there,” Ferrell told The Independent. “It’s very real and it’s very unsafe for trans people in certain situations. … But I don’t know why trans people are meant to be threatening..."

"Why is that threatening to you? If the trans community is a threat to you..."

It's not about "hate." No emotionally mature person "hates" anyone or anything, though they may not like or approve of them. Nor is any reasonable person "threatened" by any trans person. It is not about feeling "threatened" or challenged in any way, it's about the refusal to indulge the manipulations of persons divorced from reality, whether by genuine mental illness or by the inability to control their own fetishes. I am perfectly confident in who I am and my grasp of reality. If you want to see someone who lacks confidence in themselves, look to the 6'7" dude with five o'clock shadow getting off on beating fifteen year old girls at sportsball.
