This is mostly related to the US, but are the elder fucked at this rate? They grew up believing communist policies like social security will help them survive without having to save money. Anybody who's been saving money and not hard assets have long lost their money due to 50 years old inflation, and from what I've discussed with some of them, they aren't even fully aware of how much they will need after they retire, and don't have enough money to last them more than a few years.

Are they fucked at this rate? Do they need family to survive, and will the ones without family be screwed? Do their families even care about them after the way generations have been brainwashed to just fuck over everyone else and look after yourself? Are we doomed for the same fate at this rate? Will they ever find out how many licks it takes to reach the tootsie center of a tootsiepop?
 
The rest of the world still has a tradition of the entire family living together for a reason. The young take care of the old and the old teach the young. It fucking works and frankly it should have stayed that way.

At this point its becoming more likely that the young will have to live with the old given how unaffordable it is to buy and keep property in the US. Its important to keep that family connection just in case of this event, but everyone is so fucked up in this day and age that its hard not to be traumatized by most of our families utter stupidity and retardation.

If your old and don't have property, savings or family, then yeah your fucked. The issue isn't that they are fucked, its that they knew they were fucked several decades before the fucking and decided to change nothing because "I will live off social security" a service with a terrible return rate and people have been talking about its inevitable collapse since the fucking 80's. Didn't start a family, didn't start saving and didn't invest in property because they stupidly didn't realize the federal security net was made of straw.

If you think you can work until you are 100 I have some bad news for you. Enjoy passing away by the time you hit 60 and can't do any worthwhile work due to all the junk you put into your body.

Obviously, but that's the point. People still often live for a long time after that, but can't keep working. What, when you turn 60 do you expect everyone to say the same thing to you about how you are the idiot for trusting what the government said and that you should just crawl over and die?

The government expects you to though. I get what you're trying to say, 60 is right around the time people start retiring.
 
Obviously the last thing I'm going to suggest is any communist BS, hence why I called SS a scam.
But it is a real issue, one that would normally be solved out of the kindness of peoples hearts, but that's started to fade too.
 
It depends on the job. Obviously, you're not going to be digging ditches when you're 70. You should be able to perform light office work or a service job. A lot of 60+ people remain in jobs to make extra cash (as long as it doesn't mess with their Social Security) and to give themselves something to do. Old people perform a lot of charity work as well. The age when a person's body breaks down varies from person to person due to lifestyle, luck and genetics, You can't just arbitrarily write off all people of a certain age.
 
The American Solution is to do everything for the benefit of banks, multi-national corporations, sexual/ethnic identity groups; explicitly at the expense of normal people and especially the ethnic groups that actually made or make anything of long term value.

The solution to the problem of people being homeless is for wypipo to stop being greedy and see everything they own be seized by bureaucrats, while their children are turned into wireheads by pharmaceutical/internet companies and Chinese fentanyl dealers. Then we'll simply import unlimited 3rd worlders to do whatever jobs can't be outsourced to India or China at wages below those necessary for survival, necessitating loans to pay rent and similar things. Most of these loans will never be repaid, but it will allow the lenders to seize whatever property these foreign mercenaries accumulate.

American wypipo need to accept their guilt for the Holocaust, slavery, and systemic racism, get hooked on opiates sold by African American convicts and Honduran teenagers, and spend the rest of their days sucking off brown people for wads of dollar bills that will go to their BIPOC social betters who are happy being paid in psychological wages rather than material benefits. That is the solution which maintains Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity.

SS is a scam but not for the boomers.
SS is a classic pyramid scheme - I mean "multi-level marketing" scheme - where WE the taxpayers in our 20's and 30's are paying to subsidize silverhairs, but the logistical problem is that like any pyramid scheme, you eventually run out of people to subsidize the previous levels. They are already sitting pretty in retirement living off the taxes stripped from our backs, and what do we get but the fading and increasingly unrealistic promise that one day we will get to live off the fruit of someone else?

They might survive, but likely in conditions of utter misery, and with them being placated only by whatever distraction the system throws at them.

That's what my parents used to say when that was brought up. They spent their youth being hippies in a haze of weed, so they've only managed to secure a house in their 60s and they probably won't retire at this rate. As for me, and everyone younger than me, the R word will be a joke, I'm sure.

Keep in mind that the elderly retreating into a (near)-zero productivity state and essentially abandon society is something that historically just did not happen, perhaps not even among the super rich and their bubble. If nothing else, they remained as teachers or guides. It's not normal for people to essentially live in (semi-)vegetative sloth after a certain age just because age.

I agree with what you're saying, and I figure you're talking more about the Silent Generation, who still stayed relatively functional in family life as much as they could. The boomers like my parents just seem to lament they won't be able to swan off to Bermuda alone and drink themselves out because of social economic woes catching up with them too soon. Half my family already did that and went kaput trying to spend as much money as possible and fuck half of Asia before death and only calling their kids for a plane ticket home when bankrupt and cancerous. It really is a twisted time we live in. They're not supposed to die alone and we weren't supposed to be abandoned by them.
