This is the real concern to me, not right or left or libertarian and that cyclical have/have not bullshit. If we really are dumbing down the population and raising dumber kids, to be ruled over by a much more intelligent elite who have no intent on furthering actual humanity but just themselves, then we're fucked. It's the new Dark Age.
Before the sacrastic memetic framing of "woke" took over both "woke" and "red pilled" literally meant the same thing and were memes tied to enlightenment. Now, Urban dictionary is definitely going Woke in the terms of what OP is describing, the unenlightened hyperpolitical and overly censorous that helps fucking nobody but megacorp exec and bureaucrat interests. People that want to pat themselves on the back for doing something, even if that "something" is ruining or taking away something from the people.
It really does seem to be going towards that and what's fucking scary is how just apathetic or outright encouraging of it some people are. A few days ago I ran into someone in some random ass game text chat asking for fucking "vocal tone signifiers" and they got laughed out basically, shit gave me a bit of hope for the future with the response but the fact there was someone unironically doing that and claiming the confusion and amusement as to what they even meant was "bullying and harassment"is fucking freaky to me. I looked the shit up later and found out it's a real ass thing thats picking up traction in the fucking "neurodiverity community" or whatever the fuck. Shows the kind of joyless, bubble wrapped, and sterilized world a lot of people are willingly descending into right now.
If a one swallowed every single insane delirium crapped out by the woke cult, they could become a joyless androgynous sexless drone who'd have no fun in a grey cultureless void, because they could think everything is "problematic" in one way or another. Everything fun or enjoyable in life could be branded "cultural appropriation" this or "exotification" that or "objectification" this or "male gaze" that to such a poor soul. SJWs could be hypocrites who don't practice as they preach, or very miserable.
I'm becoming more and more convinced that it's all the fault of social media and our "perpetually online" culture.
Authoritarians must really like "social" media then. I've also noticed that too about the internet in Current Year - at least on the Western internet: there always seems to be this puritanical judgemental tone of of "why this is wrong", "why that is wrong", and "here is how you suck". It can get very draining if one constantly sees it.
I think it was always like that to an extent, progressives just empowered it. For example the perpetual lowering of standards for diversity led to teachers who push LGBT on Elementary school students and the lack of support for math, English, and the sciences.
I only saw this movie for the first time in the last few months and my first two thoughts were, holy shit, Wall-E ripped the hell out of this, and holy shit, we're more than halfway there.
