Windows Recall AI snapshots stored in an unencrypted SQL file in appdata. Apparently. Already there is scripts to install it on unsupported devices.

The fact that people are so fucking braindead that they'd ever even consider installing spyware on their machine, on the off chance that they would like to "remember something", is unbelievable. It's like the least useful feature ever, for the highest cost imaginable. And even in this thread, people are simping for the idea. Are you too fucking stupid to write important things down? Save bookmarks? Search your chat history on Messenger? Are you a fucking spastic mongoloid?

Mint is definitely one of the most retard proof ones, but it depends on your use cases. There's gayming-centric distros like nobara/pop that come with more gaming shit and various optimizations out of the box to make it even easier of a transition for you, but if you just casually browse Mint is fine.

For now. They're working on compatibility with more mainstream architectures so this will be shoved onto everything in due time.

One thing that can be a little rocky in Linux are hardware drivers and nvidia-drivers. I haven't had serious problems *lately*, but sometimes you might have to reinstall the distro's nvidia-drivers after installing cuda or something.

Proton internally looks like copies of a stripped down Windows system for every installed game. It's probably somewhat similar to Wine. Seems to work well on my end so far, but I don't do much that needs bleeding-edge volumetric raytracing. The games probably think they live on those pseudo-Windows systems

You are right, but I often still see people mock suggestions to switch to Linux exactly for video game reasons.

To me that would stop me from doing a switch given that I always have to figure out or atleast have in teh back of my mind figure out, that I need to have a workaround. really bothers me. I Am looking at people using mint and it seems that they still have alot of little nit picky things that can go wrong. OVerall is it that bad or is it just cuase i am looking for things.

I will simp for Gaben all day if I have to. Man's been amazing for the better part of two decades and in the last few years, the Steam Deck and Proton have probably been the single biggest thing to ever happen to Linux gaming. We definitely lucked out that the biggest digital distribution platform ended up being led by him. I can't imagine how much worse off we'd be if it was anyone else.

When he kicks the bucket years from now, I expect a state funeral for him and a national day of mourning.
