Speaking from personal 1st hand accounts I have witnessed elderly relatives between mid 50's and late 80's live through severe diabetes with no treatment and chronic addictions to unhealthy foods and nicotine before croaking of an unrelated issue like a random blood clot and just plain old age. Living a full life despite having half functional organs.
